I have collected quite a few clear mount stamp sets over the last couple of months. There’s something pretty wonderful about how they all fit so neatly in that little DVD case and stack so beautifully on my shelves. There’s even something kinda’ cool about the way the stamps loosely dance about the case. Until now…
Katy introduced me to a new way of keeping my stamps inside the case, an even cleaner way to organize them. I had heard this mentioned in other circles but didn’t dare try it until Katy showed me hers. I am now a changed man.
This may not be new to you, but it’s new to me, so please let me be excited about this: carefully remove your individual stamps from the rubber sheet but don’t throw the sheet away. Instead, store the stamps inside the sheet they came in. That way, you can easily eyeball a set to see which stamp (if any) is missing.
If you are not careful, it’s easy to rip the rubber sheet around the stamps when trying to remove them. Here’s my strategy for cleanly removing the stamps: hold the red rubber side toward you and gently press the image toward you from the other side. You’ll be able to identify the little pieces of rubber that are holding the images to the sheet. Gently separate at those points. Mount the images on each stamp and the store as shown above.
I hope this tip has been helpful.
Thanks or stopping by my blog!

I’ve been using the outside piece to hold my stamps for quite a long time now, but I take it a step further and remove the backing from the outside piece and now it sticks to the back of the case and nothing moves at all in the case. I like using the outside piece to hold the stamps because it is easy to see if a stamp is missing after a workshop.
I love that you always give us tips. Thanks!
Thanks, Carol! I have (at least so far) not adhered the rubber sheet to my case because I find it easier to identify the stamps by the clear mount image, rather than by the rubber side. That’s just me, but I am always changing, so…
This is a great way to keep track hoof the stamp count! Any chance you’re not removing the white paper from the back side of the stamp before attaching the clear vinyl label? It looks to be still on them.. I hope you have a great weekend Brian!
Patti, I have not removed the white piece because I find it easier to identify my stamps by the clear mount image vs. the rubber side of the stamp. Under the white strip is all the sticky, so i am keeping it on for now. I might change that one day, too, but for now, I don’t mind one big chunk of stamps dangling around my DVD case.
You know the other reason I leave the red rubber piece down in the case is because it has “feet”. It looked to me that there was a purpose for holding the stamps up off the plastic case… LOL!
I saw that, too, Katy. The assembly instructions don’t really speak to that, though, do they?
Don’t forget 1–2–3–Lift!
Oh, yes! Allie, you are quite a learned stamper! Press-2-3! Voila!
I started doing this several months back and sooooo agree with you on how very neat this is, in more than one way! Thanks for sharing with others who may not know about this idea!
I’ve been pulling the paper off the background piece and putting it sticky side against the outside of the case, too. But I also combine my sets that come in two cases and having the sticky side against the coordinating picture side just makes it easier for me to pull the right stamp each time. When I combine cases I snip the little “thumbnail” image from the #2 piece and tape it next to the #1 piece so I can see all the images quickly and easily. Thanks for sharing the great storage tips!
