Finally…The Peacock Makes His Debut

Several weeks ago I stamped the peacock from World Treasures in the full spectrum of colors and snipped to my heart’s content. Snip, snip, snip, snip, glue, glue. Until yesterday, this poor peacock had been mounted, unmounted and remounted at least 9 times. He sat unmounted on my desk, staring at me for a week or so before I would try again, but nothing made me happy. Too busy, too simple, not bold enough. Here’s the final resting place for this beautiful peacock:

From the start, I really wanted to pair the sentiment “Some things have to be believed to be seen” from Just Believe with the glorious peacock. I mounted that thing on cards of different sizes and colors, trying to get the saying on the same card front as the peacock. At my wits end, I decided it would be just as appropriate to put the sentiment on the inside of the card.

Tips, tricks and reminders:

  • Imitation is the best form of flattery. The only complexity with this card lies in its layers. The layers of cardstock under the peacock mimic the layers of color in the peacock itself. While it might look like a lot, it’s really quite simple to repeat the pattern.
  • Don’t stop until you get it right. This reminder is mostly for me. Don’t stop until you are completely happy with the end result. Don’t be afraid to undo, redo and undo again. In the end, you might not have a card that looks like the one you set out to create, but you’ll be way more satisfied by the extra work.
