Triple Time Stamping Revisited

A couple of weeks ago, I shared a tutorial on Triple Time Stamping, that popular technique that showcases a single layer of images on layers and layers of cardstock. All the Triple Time Stamping cards I’ve seen (including the one I shared in my earlier post) are layered on a single color of card stock (usually Whisper White or Very Vanilla). Well, who wrote the rules? Who says we can’t play around with the layers? Why can’t we change up the shades of cardstock to add depth to the layers? Here’s a card I dreamed up, putting a twist on this Triple Time Stamping rules:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders:

  • Build your own Triple Time Stamping creation. Do you want to create a look like this? Click here to access my previous tutorial. If you haven’t tried this already, you’ll be happy when you do – please don’t deprive yourself of the joy.
  • Layering. I chose Early Espresso for my card base and the base layers between the stamped pieces. I stamped on Soft Suede, Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla (darkest to lightest, working my way to the center of the card) with Early Espresso ink. While your eye digests all of the elements on the card, this layering effect brings your focus to the center of the card. I’ll be trying this layered effect in other shades and color families. A primary colors birthday card would be bright and festive, don’t you think?
  • Sentiment placement. Instead of centering the sentiment, I offset it in the bottom, right corner of the top two layers. That way, the entire layout doesn’t just build inward. It gives you a little something different to look at and still allows you to see a marjority of the shells stamped on the center piece.

  1. Insert wolf whistle {here} Wow! Love those round corners everywhere & this progressive color pallet in neutral! I understand your Momma is an Artist, she’s likely to post directly behind me and agree that it looks like the sun is shining down on your pile of sea shells here as you’ve placed the lightest on the top. Beautiful! Your first post encouraged me to try Triple Time and your instructions were a breeze (ocean breeze that is!) Triple Time is addicting, you can’t make just one!

  5. Y’all are just too good to me! I try to change-up my designs day-to-day so I can share a variety of looks and projects. I’m thinking of you. Something for everyone, no? Who wants to see a birthday card every day? Sometimes I want to show you something bright and cheery, and sometimes I want to show how neutrals can make a beautiful card. You may have already noticed, but the cards I am most jazzed about tend to be neutrals (I’m just learning this about myself). This card was just for me, though. When I was making it, it didn’t matter to me if y’all liked this one or not – because I loved it. But since you also like it, I’ll humbly accept your admiration. 🙂 Thank you so much for making my days so exciting!
