Weeeooo Weeeooo

Boy, oh, boy! Thursday night was strange. No power means no air conditioning and no fan blowing down on me while I (try to sleep). In other words, I was drowzy all day Friday. When I awoke yesterdar morning, I left my stale, dark house for an air conditioned, fully lit office. When the work whistle rang at the end of the day (OK, there’s really a whistle that sounds – it’s just the “ba-da-dum-dum” song as my laptop shuts down at 4:00), I rushed home to a hot, electricity-less home. Such a contrast.

Here’s the card I made by the light of a Coleman’s propane lamp, which, by the way, puts off a good light. Incidentally, it also puts off a good amount of heat (if you are looking for that – I was not.). Anyway, here’s my card;

There are two meanings behind this very immaculate cards:
1. Parts of Atlanta are in chaos as we figure out how to return service to neighborhoods. When I say “we”, i do not really mean me – I take no credit for the restoration of lower. Some parts (even just down the street) are fine. I’ve seen a number of fire trucks and service vehicles yesterday, though. Every time I saw one, my stamping-obsessed mind went right to “Weeeooo Weeeooo”. 🙂
2. I have some good news today that also made me shout “Weeeooo Weeeooo,” and I want to share with you. I have had a crazy-amazing year this year. I joined Stampin’ Up a little over a year ago, and my first year has been CRAZY! I have a very talented group of readers and club members and customers and team members – and I adore them all for very different reasons. Yesterday, I received an online order that put me over my goal of earning Stampin’ Up!’s grand trip next year, a Caribbean cruise. Weeeooo Weeeooo! I couldn’t have earned this prestigious award without the help and support of those around me.

I want to clarify something from yesterday’s cell phone post – I mentioned that we were downstairs in the basement when the storm hit and that Bandit as upstairs by himself. Just wanted to clarify that we had no idea the storms would be what they were. We weren’t in the basement for cover – that’s where my stamping stuff is. Mom and I were crafting and got stuck there by a surprise (to us) storm. Bandit is not allowed in the basement (he would have too much fun with my ribbons as supplies), but we certainly would have brought him down there if we were taking shelter. I just don’t want you to think I am an irresponsible pet owner – and I certainly don’t want PETA to show up at my unlit front door. 🙂

  9. Oh my gosh Brian! You made that card by the light of a Coleman lamp? We have power outages all the time and so we are prepared for it with several Coleman lamps however, my eyes don’t seem to care for that bright white light. What a fantastic job you did on your card and also, how very wonderful that your Mom crafts with you.

    Congratulations on winning that cruise with SU. I know they treat their demonstrators very, very well and I can’t wait to see all the “freebies” you get. When is the cruise scheduled for? Will your Mom stay with Bandit? I am very excited for you!

  10. Congrats on your cruise!!! Hopefully you will have power today!! We were in Kennesaw yesterday visiting a friend and celebrating my Birthday and luckily they had power.

  12. Congratulations on your Cruise!!! Nice card!! Hopefully you will get your air back today!!

  13. Hi Brian, Congratulations on winning the cruise. You are a go getter and good for you. My paper samples arrived today, just love them. Nice job, well organized and good size pieces we can use when they are retired. Thank you for putting the complimentary paper names on the back. It saves me looking them up every time. I have received my new holiday mini, I must say I am very disappointed in the selection of stamps for Halloween and Christmas this year. I will write them a letter, I think feed back is good, be it pro or con. Please let me know if you will be doing the same thing with the paper samples from the holiday catalogue, because I will be ordering from you again. Tell your Mom that she is lucky to have a talented son, I stamp with my daughter and we have a very good time. We also scrapbook together, Friday nights are sacred here because of that reason. I will be showing my customers these samples and drum up so more business for you for next year. I know Kathy Green ordered and I am sure she got hers today as well. Hope the power is restored soon. 15. Congratulations on the cruise, Brian! Well deserved!
    Sorry you are “in the dark”, literally. 🙁 We’ve had our share of that in south Oklahoma City with the tornadoes this year. Not fun stuff. Glad you are safe.
    How in the world do you create a cute card like that . . . IN THE DARK?? If I had the lighting of a surgery room I still wouldn’t produce work that is the quality that you produce. Excellent work!

  17. Great card! Will you be making more from that set to send to thank all the responders around your area? They would love it! How many thank you cards of King caliber do they get?
