Patriotic Gratitude with a SNEAK PEEK of the Chevron Border Punch

We are just starting to breathe in after the amazing launch of Stampin’ Up!’s Annual Catalog.  Well, take another deep breath because the Holiday Catalog is just around the corner.  Today, I’ve got a sneak peek of possibly the most exciting item in the Holiday Catalog – the Chevron Builder Punch.  Yipee!  Before the holidays, though, we’ve got July 4th, so today’s card is a celebration of all the men and women who serve our country every day:Chevron Builder Punch, Chalk Talk, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Chevron Builder Punch.  I can’t yet show you a picture of the Chevron Builder Punch, but believe me when I say this ain’t your grandma’s dainty builder punch.  This thing is huge.  Just look at those punched chevron pieces!  My mind is still running a hundred miles a minute with ideas for how to use this punch.
  • Color Building.  While this card features red, white and blue, the stars of this show are red and white – blue only serves as a frame for the red and white artwork.  The card base is Midnight Muse, but all the excitement is found in the red and white chevrons.  When your eyes move toward the sentiment, the blue serves as a nice base for the red and white sentiment.  I played around with stamping my sentiment in Midnight Muse, but it wasn’t working – that’s when I came to terms with the fact that Midnight Muse was just the supporting actor here.
  • Shape Building.  You know I love to play around with interesting shapes on my sentiments – punches, crops, snips – I love them all.  The Midnight Muse border around the sentiment is from Chalk Talk (the top, left image below) – as is the Whisper White shape around the sentiment (bottom, right image below).  Because the original shape is long with a pointed end, I cropped it once with the flat side along the top of the sentiment.  I ran the sentiment back through the Big Shot, lining up the flat end of the sentiment along the bottom – creating my own shape to fit nicely inside the Midnight Muse frame.Chalk Talk Framelits Dies

Just in time for summer, Stampin’ Up! has released an adorable Photopolymer set called Settin’ Sail.  Lots of great images in this set.  Check it out below:

Very patriotic!! The Chevron punch is clearly a must-have!! Midnight Muse is one If my favorite colors and its support to red & white here makes the card stand out in the best possible way!! Now that you created a new shape Brian, you can name it so we know what you are referring to if you use it in future card designs!! :-)
