When I made the list of my favorite stamp sets from the 2013-2014 Annual Catalog, the adorable Zoo Babies was an easy pick. I don’t make a lot of cards for babies (they are really for the parents of the babies, by the way, because babies don’t yet know how to read – did you know that?), but when I sat down to make a quick baby card, I knew it had to showcase my Zoo Babies: 
How can you deny the cuteness overload that is Zoo Babies?Tips, Tricks and Reminders:
- Designer Series Paper. You know I don’t design projects with a lot of flowers, so if you were buying me a present (I love presents!), you might not choose Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper. Bad choice! I love it. Although I’m not in love with some of the flowery prints (although they have their place), I do love the page of Island Indigo gingham and this page that looks like a Pear Pizzazz grasscloth wall covering. With their Whisper White backgrounds, these pages are clean and classy.
- Pop goes the elephant. I made one tag with a stamped sentiment and stamped elephant, but my snipping habit got the best of me. That’s when I decided to re-stamp it all and snip the elephant to let it pop off the page (the elephant has a very solid outline that’s easy for the most inexperienced snipper). I also stamped the elephant in Marina Mist, snipped its ear and then attached it to the Pear Pizzazz elephant. Can you say adorable?
- Step up the tag framelit. The Whisper White tag is cropped from the Chalk Talk Framelits. I like my Whisper White and Very Vanilla pieces to be framed, so I attached the tag to a piece of Marina Mist and snipped my way around the tag. So that I wouldn’t bend the finished tag you see here, I cropped another tag on a piece of scrap paper. I swiped my 2-way glue pen over the tag, let it dry and then attached it to the Marina Mist. Once that glue is dry, it acts as a temporary adhesive. It was strong enough to stay on the Marina Mist while I snipped, but it came right off when I was ready to attach the final tag.
This was not the intention of my design, but the more I worked with this tag, the more it looked like a baby’s bib. Do you see it? If I had added some thin ribbon off the sides, I think it could pass as a bib (a bib for a baby with a really narrow neck). Either way, it’s a super-cute tag.

Ohhh!! I absolutely love, LOVE this card, so adorable and beautifully done. It does look like a baby’s bib even without the ribbon. This stamp set didn’t caught my eye when I saw it the first time but I’ve seen several super cute cards made with it and now, your amazingly beautiful card so, this just pushed me over the edge, this set is going into my wish list ASAP, I think it’s a must have set for children’s birthdays and baby showers. TFS!!
This is adorable. And my first thought was “this looks like a bib”. All bibs are made with Velcro closures now a days. New mommies wouldn’t recognize the tie bibs. Great job. Can’t wait to see all your post this week and to receive my Summer swap. Have a blessed day.
So cute…I love the bib and that elephant`s ear . The framelets were next on my list to order and now I am so glad because that tag does make a cute bib . I love that Gingham Garden dsp and the Gingham wheel stamp . You gave me a ton of ideas this morning , Mr. Snippy.

Brian, you are a nut! I love this card and I love reading your post…a baby with a really small neck!?! 🙂 You are right…cards are really for parents since babies are not yet checking them out, BUT I kept the cutest baby cards we received and added them throughout the baby scrapbook pages, so my kids can enjoy their sweetness now 🙂 Did you know that a homemade baby card is the gift that keeps on giving? 🙂

Thank you for making me laugh every time I read your blog. Yes, I totally see the bib; I did even before you mentioned it. I was reading thru your expose and I thought to myself, “Hmm, that even kinda LOOKS like a bib!” Ha, how ’bout that? Great minds think alike!

Ok Brian, I see how to snip around the bib (tag) but how did you snip around the neckline?
🙂 Katrina – it took patience and annoying precision. Lots and lots of tiny snips to dig away at the paper along the edges. It’s certainly not ideal, but I needed to do it to get the look I wanted. 🙂
