Happy Umpteenth Birthday for The Paper Players

I’ve been waiting for the right time to use this cute, cute, cute stamp from Oh My Goodies.  I’ve also been waiting for the right time to use this bright, energy-filled Sweet Taffy Designer Series Paper.  This week’s sketch from The Paper Players delivers the opportunity to use both.  Woo hoo!  Here’s my card:

Oh My Goodies, Good News, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PP206And here’s the sketch from The Paper Players that inspired my exuberant birthday card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Sugary Sweet.  Sweet Taffy Designer Series Paper is DEFINITELY sweet and sugary (I had to come up with another word because it wouldn’t make sense to say the paper is sweet and taffy-y).  Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry and Tempting Turquoise all come together on a Whisper White base to create bright and cheery designs.  Go, Sweet Taffy!
  • Leave it Alone.  Since I first saw this cute sentiment from Oh My Goodies, I knew I wanted to layer the word “umpteenth” in a different color.  When all was said and done, it was just too much.  I decided it would be best to just leave it alone.  The sentiment still stands out without the added layer of color.
  • Rich Razzleberry Base.  The Melon Mambo sentiment sits all bright and cheery on top of this bright and cheery paper.  To reduce the sticky sweetness a bit, I added a Deco Label layer of Rich Razzleberry between the sentiment and the paper.  Rich Razzleberry is still rich and bold but less than any of the other colors featured in this paper.

Who wouldn’t love to receive this cheerful card?  Don’t you agree that the bright colors and super-cute layout are a great way to send birthday wishes – even if your friend is umpteen years old?  🙂

SURPRISE!  It’s also LeAnne Pugliese’s birthday, and the Merry Monday team is celebrating with a parade of birthday cards.  I’ve included this card as a cheery birthday wish for LeAnne.  Woo hoo!  Check out the other cards here.
