World Card Making Day and a Spooky Brew

Today is World Card Making Day!  Is there any more magical day in all of the year?!?  I’m celebrating all day long with 50+ of my crafty, paper-loving friends.  Pam and I are sharing fun projects and tips, lots of fun games and contests.  This is going to be fun!  What are you doing to celebrate World Card Making Day?  Since I already know you love cards, I hope you’ll [at the very least] make a card.  🙂

As part of our celebration, 45 of us will be swapping cards we made to share with each other.  Who doesn’t love a good card swap?  Here’s how I decided what to make:  As I flipped through all my stamp sets to look for a fun set to use, I came across my Perfect Blend stamp set – sitting all alone on the shelf.  I pulled him down and then searched for a seasonally complementary sentiment.  Searching.  Searching.  Searching.  Aha!  Tee-Hee-Hee had just what I was looking for.  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Create a Setting.  There’s a lot of white space on this card.  This allows the small collection of objects – a cup, the moon, a bat – to create a nice setting in the center of the square.  Your eye goes right to the objects in the black square, so not much else is needed on the rest of the card.
  • Pairing of Sentiment with Image.  As I mentioned in the opening of this post, I was ecstatic when I found the pairing of a coffee cup with this sentiment from Tee-Hee-Hee.  Just the very mention of brew in this non-coffee stamp set sent me over the top to create a Halloween cup of joe.
  • Building a Beautiful Cup.  Perfect Blend is a perfect stamp set for stampers who don’t like fussy cutting.  There’s a lot of snipping to create a cup like this one – but it’s snipping-made-easy.  Because of the etched lines on the image, you don’t have to cut very precisely at all.  You’re welcome.  I stamped the image on Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper, on Whisper White and on Crumb Cake.  I cropped out the corrugated sleeve and lid and then glued them on top of a snipped cup base.  Easy as pie – which would go so nicely with a cup of coffee.

    • Me too Jody. I’m doing the Walk for the Cure on October 19th and want to make the perfect thank you card for all those that have supported me with contributions. I’ve been playing around with lots of stuff to come up with a super card but I’m not thrilled with anything I’ve made so far. I still have a few weeks to get it done.
