That’s a Wrap! – Part Two

Boy, oh, boy!  We had a lot of fun with yesterday’s InKing Royalty Blog Hop!  If you hopped with us, I think you’ll agree that the projects were incredible, and the ideas were really fun.  If you missed the hop, there’s still time to check it out (click here).  Yesterday, I shared a fun way to package up gift tags so that my loved ones can remember to give me gifts during the Holidays.  I’m generous like that.  Today, I’m sharing the tags, along with some helpful tips to recreate these for yourself.

Here’s the project I shared yesterday:

12 Days of Christmas, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingAnd here are all twelve tags that fit snugly inside the half-size wood mount container:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Mixing it Up.  It was a fun challenge to make these twelve tags different and unique while working with limited colors and images.  To make sure one day wasn’t just like the next, I worked my way through the days sequentially – how accountant-like of me, huh?  I positioned the sentiments differently as I worked through the days, switching up the colors of the images and the word “Christmas” between Cherry Cobbler and Pear Pizzazz.  For simplicity, though, I kept “on the” and each day in Garden Green.  I used three different stamp sets to alternate the word “Christmas” – they are listed below.
  • Color Selection. I balanced four colors in these tags – Garden Green, Cherry Cobbler, Pear Pizzazz and Crumb Cake.  While each color doesn’t show up in each tag, I alternated the use of these colors to add surprise and dimension to each tag.  Garden Green makes an appearance on every tag, while Crumb Cake doesn’t show up a lot (but he’s there).  If you like this combination of colors, be sure to save this off:Color Inspiration, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Reinforcing the Tag Hole.  I didn’t want to tear the edge of the tag when I tied the Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine through, so I added a reinforcement.  I ran thin, slender scraps of Cherry Cobbler into the Angled Tag punch to reproduce the hole and then punched that out with the 1/2″ Circle punch.  Perfect!

My Favorite?  My favorite of all of these tags is Day Six.  It’s not that I have a special place in my heart for the Sixth Day of Christmas it just happens that I love the design on this tag the most.  The zigzags from Work of Art are bold and beautiful, don’t you think?  Please don’t tell the other tags because I don’t want to have a coup on my hands.
