My Christmas Card – and a New Video

Wowzers!  The Year-End Closeouts Clearance Rack has been updated to include MORE awesome stuff.  LOTS of new items were added last night – many of them marked at 80% off.  Many of the additions are from the Holiday Catalog and Supplement, but the biggest surprise is that Good Greetings is in there (the incentive stamp set that was offered during October).  You don’t want to miss out on my blog post below – but you REALLY don’t want to miss out on these new offerings.  They are only offered until they are gone.  Check them out now by clicking on the banner below to see the items in my online store:

Clearance Rack - Up to 80% Off!I’ve created a lot of Christmas cards over the past several months.  When it comes down to sending out my own Christmas cards, though, I want something unique (something no one has seen before) and something quick-and-easy.  I didn’t send out a lot of cards this year, but I am proud of the ones I did get in the mail.  Here’s my card:

White Christmas, Get Your Santa On, Gorgeous Grunge, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

How cute is that?!?  I just love this little scene – all stamping and coloring with a little touch of masking magic.  Here’s a video that shares this technique for quick-and-easy stamping:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Masking.  As I shared above, masking the snowman when I stamped the Gorgeous Grunge “ice” allowed me to create a crisp, clean guy.  He’s so clean and white that he almost pops off the page.  Because the snowman is a photopolymer, I was able to stamp him in just the right space, card after card, without the use of my beloved Stamp-a-ma-jig.
  • White Space.  There’s a lot of white space on this card (you already know I love that).  With the exception of the little scene in the bottom, right corner of this panel, it’s all white.  I suppose that works in a snowstorm, right?  🙂  The scarf and star offer a little pop of color in this, otherwise, pale card.  I love the yellow star, but I really love the red scarf and hat trim – the red is the only pop of traditional Christmas color here.
  • Notecards.  Stampin’ Up!’s Notecards (available in Whisper White and Crumb Cake) are perfect for times when you need to make more than one card.  I love them.  The cardstock is sturdier than Whisper White card stock – and at $5.95 for 20 notecards and envelopes, you can’t beat the price.  The cards are smaller than an A2 (they are 5″ x 3-1/2″), but that’s a perfect size for a quick note that stands out in the pile of other mail.

Stamp Sets:  White Christmas, Get Your Santa On, Gorgeous Grunge  Papers:  Soft Sky, Whisper White, White Notecards  Inks:  Soft Sky, Tuxedo Black Memento, Blendabilities (Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight)  Accessories:  Stampin’ Dimensionals

  2. So so cute ! Love this adorable scene and thanks for the video .
Also thank you for mentioning the Correction Tape . I use the Post It Note Tape and it`s a little pricey !

Love love this adorable card ! Good video too ! Noticed you did not cut the whole image out …good tip !
I think we need to name that cute little snowman !!

  3. Well, as you can see there was some kind of glitch thing on my comment the first time entering ….I stand behind my double statements (giggle) I really do l;ove this card !!

  4. Oh Brian, this is so adorable, this little Snow Man’s face is full of wonder as he looks up at that bright star. Love the simple elegance of this Winter scene, your card is beautiful.
Thank you for the tip about snipping this little image, I’m glad all I need to do is cut the bottom, I was wondering how in the world I was going to cut those teeny tiny little arms.
I love the SU Photopolymer stamps, they make it so much easier to stamp exactly where you need to.

  5. I loved my Christmas card Brian! So cute! Thank you 🙂 Thanks also for the post-it tape tip on your video.

  6. What a beautiful card! Clean, crisp yet absolutely adorable! I think this would be a great design for after Christmas thank you notes. Like Maria my thought was “the king of snipping has managed to cut that itsy bitsy snowman out perfectly!” Knowing the entire snowman doesn’t have to be cut out is one of those “whew” (wiping sweat from my brow)
moments. I really do love this card and when I first saw it I thought the snowman was attached with a dimensional. Thanks for a great card and a great, helpful, video. Wishing you a fabulous Christmas!

  7. Brian, I love the simplicity of your card. In this case, for me at least, clean and simple translates to sweet innocence. These is just something about how minimal it appears (because I know you gave this some thought) that invokes a simpler, kinder time. I’m wishing you a Happy Holiday season.

  8. Now I can’t get the song It’s All About the Bass out of my head. But I’m singing it “You only cut the bass cut the bass… No trouble”

  9. Good thing you found the snowman! Great card! Great video ! When are the new catalogs supposed to be coming in the mail?

  10. So cute. I loved it when I received it in the mail last week. Your card is going out today.

Hey, I found your missing snowman stamp. Stuck to the floor in the living room, not in the fungeon afterall.
