Sponging Blue Roses – and A New Video – for PPA235

There’s a fun color challenge over at the Pals Paper Arts site this week – all blues.  Island Indigo, Pool Party and Soft Sky.  We had another all-blue challenge a couple of weeks ago (see that project here), but we’re celebrating a new catalog this week, so I reached for some of my new products.  Woo hoo!  To create today’s card, I spent a little time with the Artisan Embellishment Kit (a must-have from the new Occasions Catalog) and my sponge daubers.  Here’s my card:

Artisan Embellishment Kit.  With all the talk about the amazing stamp sets and bundles in the Occasions Catalog, you might have overlooked this beautifully vintage collection of card making delights.  This little bundle of supplies includes some beautiful trim, an assortment of vintage embellishments, a handful of small doilies and two floral die cut panels.  The die cuts are perfect for layering on cardstock – they are truly beautiful.  I used them as a stencil for my project.  What fun!

To introduce you to this Artisan Embellishment Kit and to share the steps I took to make this card, I’ve created a quick video.  This is a fun one!  You ask for bloopers, and this one (very unintentionally delivers).  🙂  Enjoy!

Brian, how or if do you clean the stencil? Love how you used it.

    • Chris, The die cut is made of paper, so once it’s been covered with ink, it’s covered and dry. I don’t think it was originally created to be used as a stencil, but it makes a mighty fine stencil. 🙂

  11. Now I gotta get that kit ! I think it would be fun playing with that template .
Loved the video …so funny ! Plus I love that little part of how you assembled the total project layer by layer . BTW my Sponge Daubers aren`t always well behaved either (giggle)

  12. Fun video, Brian! Love the look of this sweet, simple yet elegant card. You did this challenge proud!

  13. Just when I thought I didn’t need the kit….total like the look with the three shades of color.

  14. You make stamping so fun! Thanks for the tips and love your card. I love roses and was not going to invest in this kit because I thought not enough items but now i want to stencils me some roses!

  15. Brian, THANK YOU for sharing the video about the Artisan Embellish Kit. I have been going back and forth on that one deciding if I wanted it or not, and after your video and really know now for sure how the template works. It has diffendently been added to my next order for this wk-end. Very simple but beautiful card!!!!

  16. Another winner! I was not going to get that embelly kit simply because I thought I wouldn’t use it. hmmm…. I’m rethinking that now! Great idea to use it as a stencil. And I love your videos, bloopers and all! Love the “slow mo” dauber thing… very cute! Sometimes those little guys just wanna have fun, eh? 🙂

  17. Hi Brian:
I join everyone else in telling you how much I enjoy the videos – bloopers or no bloopers! I love the thinlits because it’s so easy to make your own stencils using them. The daubers are fabulous and so much fun to use but really give such a different appearance than the sponges. Amazing. Very, very beautiful card. Thanks for sharing.

  18. Beautiful card, great video. I love bloopers, especially slo-mo bloopers. Watching you go step by step is so helpful.

  19. I love the card, and you made me fall in love with the embellishment kit. I just have to have that “stencil”, as you make it look like so much fun to play with. Can’t wait to give it a try.

  20. great video! it was helpful to realize that that template is part of a kit and not a metal stencil. the only thing your videographer could’ve done to help me would have been to zoom in further on the rose so that i could see the color variation up close.

    again, thanks!

  21. Fantastic card and video too! Love that you leave in the bloopers Brian.
