Stampin’ Up!’s B.Y.O.P. for FMS168

The moment I saw this week’s design for Freshly Made Sketches’ Challenge, I knew I’d be combining my Gift Card Envelope & Trim Thinlits with my B.Y.O.P photopolymer stamp set to slap a fun gift card on the front of my card.  The design screamed “add a gift card enclosure here!”  Here’s my card:

And here’s the challenge banner that inspired my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • B.Y.O.P. I just love this stamp set – it’s all photopolymer and designed for givers of gift cards.  The big sayings are whimsical and fun – but they are also flexible enough to be used in non-gift card projects.  Take a look:B.Y.O.P Photopolymer Stamp Set, Stampin' Up!
  • Altered Expectations.  As I mentioned above, I immediately knew I’d be using the gift card dies for the front panel on this card.  What I didn’t consider when I solidified that decision was that this gift card enclosure is a bit bigger than I anticipated.  Don’t get me wrong – it’s an appropriate size – I just wrongly guessed at the size.  I suppose I could have created a GINORMOUS card to keep the aspect ratio, but I figured it would work to just flip this sketch on its side.
  • Building the Gift Card Envelope.  At first glance, the recipient of this card might not notice that this is a gift card envelope on the front of the card, so you might want to make a note inside the card that there’s a gift card on the front.  The Designer Series Paper Stack pages aren’t wide enough for the Gift Card Thinlit, so I let the top and bottom get cut off.  It’s all good, though!  I glued down the bottom flap and glued my B.Y.O.P panel to the top flap.  Here’s how it looks once it’s constructed:B.Y.O.P., Gift Card Envelope & Trim Thinlits, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FMS168

I hope you like this project – and I know the recipient of the card will.  While many people would love a gift card, everyone loves a hand-made card that is constructed with a fun pocket to hold a gift card.  Am I right?
