I Know Love – a New Video for the Pals Blog Hop

2015janhop_badge

Welcome to the first Pals Blog Hop of 2015. We hope your new year is off to a great creative start. To celebrate the start of a new Stampin’ Up! year, we are showcasing products from our newest catalog this month – the Occasions catalog. You may also see new Sale-a-Bration products too. If you don’t know how to earn free Sale-a-Bration products – contact your Stampin’ Up! demonstrator to learn more.

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from #19, Laurie Chilton at Stampin’ Ink. Use the full lineup below to move along from blog to blog so you see all of the new projects.

I Know Love

I can view products in the catalog and look at samples made with new items all day long, but there’s nothing more exhilarating than sitting down to play with the new stamps.  I always find things I didn’t expect to find once I really begin using my stamps and investigating their images and textures.

Today I am sharing a card I made with two new items from the 2015 Occasions Catalog.  Can you guess which stamp sets I used?  One is likely one of the most popular stamp sets in the catalog, and the other is perhaps overlooked (but filled with possibilities):

Build a Bouquet, Sheltering Tree, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingI couldn’t love this sentiment more – it’s such a lovely thing to say to someone, and the scripted font is gorgeous.  As such, it deserves a beautiful backdrop.  I also love the combination of pinks and browns.  I combined Crisp Cantaloupe and Soft Suede cardstock and ink – and added a little Blushing Bride to capture softer pinks.

Please enjoy this video that explains all components of this card and the technique I used to create this beautifully textured background:

sheltering treeI hope you enjoyed the video.  I encourage you to study the stamps you own and find fun, fresh ways to use them in your projects – there’s a gem hidden in each and every one of your stamps.

If you are as jazzed as I am about this pink-and-brown color combination, feel free to save off this color inspiration chart:

  11. Oh Brian – I love it when you make a video! Your sense of humor is so subtle! LOL This card is just amazing. It has that clean yet colorful way of drawing your eye to what the card is all about, in this case the sentiment. Just beautiful and so much fun to actually sit down and make. Thank you.

  12. Just received the Build a Bouquet stamp set and waiting on the Sheltering Tree. You have given such a great shout out for both stamp sets!! 🙂

  13. Brian, you have done it again. How do you think of all of these wonderful techniques and inspirational designs? WOW! This is gorgeous and the sentiment is just beautiful and so “loving”…. Thanks for sharing and I love your videos. However, on You Tube, your voice is very soft and my sound is turned up all the way. Yet, here on your blog, the voice is fine. Weird, but hey, I just really pay very close attention when it’s a You Tube video because I don’t want to miss a thing. Hugs my friend!

  14. Great card. I love different ways to use stamp sets.

  15. I would never have seen the potential of using the leaves stamp as you have here. I love it! Thanks for sharing.

  16. Thanks for showing us something new! This is a technique I haven’t seen before, but so easy! It’s one of those “duh, why didn’t I think of this” techniques!!

    Brian, you’re the best!

  17. Using those leaves like that is really genius and makes you think of all sorts of other possibilities for that mottled colored look – the grass on the ground, dirt (not sure how often you need dirt on a card but….), sand. Great job and thanks once again for wonderful inspiration.

  18. I loved the retired stamp set that preceded this one that was similar. I’m glad it’s back in an updated form. This technique using the leaves is brilliant!! I wouldn’t have thought to pair those two colors either–blushing bride and crisp cantaloupe. Bravo, man. I’ll be ordering that from you soon.

  19. Hi Brian,

I read your blog every day (well almost every day) and I generally love your cards. I also love and appreciate your sense of humor. I don’t take the time to comment every day, although I should, after all you have taken the time to post for us. But today is an exception! Today’s card is absolutely stunning. Bravo!!!!

  20. Beautiful card and great video!

  21. Ohhh I love the color combo and I had not a clue that the wood grain stamp is that big in that set . Thank you again for the close ups . Last ,but not least ….this takes me back to your wizardry with Betsy`s Blossoms . It also reminds me of Seasonally Scattered in the Holiday catty . Love it !!

  22. Love, Love the card and technique! I just put another order in to get both sets! Hope Stampin up knows how lucky they are to have you! You are a great salesman! And also, thanks for the paper share. I received mine today and LOVE IT! How nice it is to have all of the new papers for a fraction of the cost!

  23. So very pretty, and I am heading right to the craft table to give it a try. Love the video which really walks you through the steps, without having to try to figure out for myself. As always, thank you!

  24. Brian what a very creative way to use the leaves from Sheltering Tree. I love your card, video and color combination! Well done my friend 🙂

  25. I love that technique Brian. Thanks for showing us a different way to use Sheltering Tree (my all-time favorite Occasions stamp set).

  26. Your best video to date!! Great card!! Thank you so much!

  27. Fabulous card and tutorial, Brian!!!

  28. LOVE and you are so right about loving that artistic touch these stamps give us!! <3

  29. Love this card…have re-created it with other colour combos….the only thing that I do “differently” is “stamp off” on a whisper white mat -which creates another fabulous mat to use for another project!!!!

  30. This card made me pass right the heck out! My lawyer will be calling you!!! 😀

    GORGEOUS
