Celebrate with Cake for FMS169

Today’s card, inspired by this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge, includes two great items that can be earned during Sale-a-Bration this year when you spend $50.  I love the simplicity of the sketch – this super-cute stamp set is beautifully complemented by this patterned paper.  Who doesn’t love that they can get both for free?!?  Here’s my card:

Big Day, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FMS169 And here’s Jen Timko’s sketch that inspired my creation:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Celebrate in Style.  This sentiment banner on this card is part of Big Day, one of the great stamp sets you can earn during Sale-a-Bration.  I love it!  I stamped the sentiment with Early Espresso ink on Coastal Cabana cardstock.  With a couple of simple snips, you’ve got a great sentiment that stands on its own.  I love that the sketch inspired me to play around with images until I found a sentiment that worked for me.  Big Day, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Unexpected Color Combination.  The color combination for this card is inspired by the Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper.  While I might naturally pair Soft Suede and Crushed Curry, I would have never (and I mean NEVER) paired these two with Coastal Cabana.  Who’da thunk?  Well, I guess someone very smart at Stampin’ Up! woulda’ thunk.  If you like this combination, too, feel free to save this off: Color Inspiration, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Good News!  I know how much you love the Envelope Framelit Dies – I mean, how awesome are they?  I also know that you like to hang on to your Designer Series Paper as long as possible.  Well, since this Designer Series Paper is FREE, you can earn lots of it during Sale-a-Bration buy buying lots.  🙂  You won’t feel so badly about using it since it didn’t cost you a thing, right?  I used the rest of this sheet to make a gorgeous, coordinated envelope to accompany this card.Big Day, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FMS169

  4. I like the little banner a lot . The colors are surprising to me also …..they do look good together . That thin Crushed Curry layer just made it ! A larger edge of that combined with the center circle would have been too over powering for that cute little cake . Well done !
