Class of 2015 for PPA242

The selection of colors for this week’s Pals Paper Arts Challenge is just that – a challenge.  As we get closer to Spring (that’s right, I said we are getting closer to Spring), it feels natural to create projects with florals and bright colors.  Garden Green, Gold and Basic Black don’t fit into that color scheme, so…I reached for my Class of 2015 stamp, a single stamp offered in this year’s Occasions Catalog.  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

• Gold and Black.  This sentiment is PERFECT for a gold-and-black combination.  I stamped the image with Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Whisper White.  I stamped it again on Basic Black with Versamark, sprinkling it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I snipped the banner and glued it right on top of the stamped image.
• Garden Green Grid.  Do you recognize the green grid of Designer Series Paper in the background?  It’s from Flowerpot Designer Series Paper.  The grids in that paper run vertical and horizontal (even squares).  My OCD for balance wasn’t happy with how all the little squares were lining up, so I decided to cut the paper at an angle.  The imbalanced squares made it easier to cut a piece at any size.  🙂
• Tossing the Cap.  The stamped image includes the words “Class of 2015” with a single graduation cap centered on top.  I started with a long, slender cardfront, so I decided to extend the image of the cap across the rest of the card.  I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig and masking to stamp the cap in multiple spots.  If you’d like to see my video for using the Stamp-a-ma-jig, click here.  If you’d like to see my video on masking, click here.
