Something for You – PPA251 Color Challenge

This week’s Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge is sticky sweet – and I love it!  Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo and Tempting Turquoise are a bright-and-cheery combination, so it just makes sense to pair them with this adorable saying from Num-Num – “just a little something for you.”  Here’s my card for this week’s PPA challenge:

Num-Num, Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PPA251

And here’s the challenge banner that inspired my project:PPA251

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Colors.  While I love these three bright colors and completely appreciate their combined energy, I incorporated a lot of black and white (totally allowed with these challenges).  My card still has the pop from the bright colors, but there’s not a sugar overload.
  • Stacked with Love.  The patterned paper that covers this card front is from the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack.  I love the energy of these little diamonds – that’s why I picked it for this high-energy color challenge.  This page from Stacked with Love is all black and white, so I used my Stampin Write Markers to create a pattern of diagonal stripes.  I shared a video about this technique in February – you can see it here.
  • Border Repetition.  I love to pair up bordered elements on cards.  In this project, the border around the based of the card mimics the borders around the circles.  I cropped my sentiment and coordinating borders first and then repeated that same pattern on the outside – I really like the uniform look of it all.

Stamp Sets:  Num-Num  Papers:  Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack, Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Whisper White  Inks:  Melon Mambo, Stampin’ Write Markers (Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise)  Accessories:  2″ Circle punch, Circles Collection Framelits, 2-1/2″ Circle punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I hope you’ll pop over to The Pals Paper Arts to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today!
