Howl-o-ween Treat – a Sneak Peek

I’m excited to share another sneak peek from the 2015 Holiday Catalog.  I am not exaggerating when I say this book is filled from cover-to-cover with amazing products for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.  I can think of no reason why you shouldn’t be crafting all through the Fall months.  This catalog is “live” September 1 – you don’t want to miss that.  Here’s my sneak peek at the Howl-o-ween Treat Bundle:  Howl-o-ween Treat, Stampin' Up!, Brian King This card uses a background of Designer Series Paper that’s found in the Annual Catalog – can you name it?

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Introducing the Howl-o-ween Bundle.  The Holiday Catalog is chock full of amazing bundles – stamp sets with Framelits or punches at discounted prices.  Who doesn’t love that?  The Howl-o-ween Treat bundle (includes Howl-o-ween Treat stamp set and Boo to You Framelits Dies) is filled with great images for Halloween – and many of the images are flexible to be used for projects throughout the year.  I love the cute images and the sheer volume of Framelits included in the dies.  Does it get any more adorable than this?:
  • Boo Askew.  The sentiment was also cropped with the accompanying Framelits dies.  I cropped the sentiment in black and vanilla so I could determine which one I liked best.  I decided to place them both on the card, letting one shadow the other.  I guess I was inspired by Julie DiMatteo’s card I shared on Saturday.
  • The Eyes Have it.  This owl’s eyes are perfectly big and round.  I wondered if I couldn’t crop them out with a punch and pop them up – how cute.  When I measured to verify that I could, I realized I could easily plop down circle from Itty Bitty Accents Epoxy Stickers.  What a super-fun embellishment!Howl-o-ween Treat, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Color Combination.  Last week I shared some tips for creating classic color combinations for Halloween projects.  You can see that chart here.  For this card, I started with the base combination of Basic Black and Tangerine Tango.  I added some flair with Blackberry Bliss and complemented them all with Very Vanilla.  Check back soon for my Thanksgiving and Christmas charts.
