New Video: Quick and Easy Coloring

I love to color – there are times when I really want to zone in on all the details and color every nook and cranny, but there are other times when I’m happy with ease and efficiency.  Today I’m sharing a video that shows a few ways you can achieve great coloring effects with a Blender Pen.  I hope you enjoy my video:

In summary, here are the three styles of coloring with a Blender Pen I shared in the video:

  • Pulling color in from a stamped image with a Blender Pen
  • Coloring rich detail with ink from a Classic Stampin’ Pad and a Blender Pen
  • Transferring ink from Stampin’ Write Markers to clear blocks to Blender Pen

If you have never used the Blender Pens, now’s a good chance to give them a try:

Another thing you should try – and this is a big one, I know – is the Many Marvelous Markers.  In one container, you get all the markers from the Brights, Subtles, Regals and Neutrals collections (except Whisper White and Very Vanilla).  That’s 38 markers!  Easy to transport and all those colors at your finger tips.

If you haven’t colored with Blender Pens (or haven’t colored with them in a while), I hope you’ll give them a try!

Tomorrow, I’m sharing a finished project with one of the images I shared in my video – I hope you’ll come back tomorrow to check it out!

Thanks for stopping by today!

  1. Just curious, what type of paper did you use in the video? Some recommend using shimmery white paper when using blender pens but I would like to know what The King uses. Thanks for another informative video!

    • Great question! I intended to cover that in my post but didn’t. I used Whisper White on this these projects. Very Vanilla works fine also. Shimmery White and watercolor paper are wonderful for a more saturated coloring with the blender pen. I hope that helps.

  2. Thanks for the tips! I learned some tricks today!

  3. Fantastic video. I haven’t tried some of those methods with the blender pens (especially the marker idea on the clear block) and can’t wait to try.

  4. Thanks for all the tips!! Looking forward to doing some coloring.

  5. Gotta’ get out my Blender Pens. Great tips, great video. I hear Hollywood calling!

  6. Wow- I learned something new – I’m going to give the acrylic block technique a try today. Thanks for the great video Brian.

  7. It’s always such a pleasure to start my day with a visit from you Brian! I like your videos because they go to the basics while most stamping videos seem to assume everyone knows all the basics. Now I just need to train you to bring the donuts when you are going to visit. LOL

  8. Thanks Brian, watching you, hnow I know to use a lighter hand when using the blender pens.

  9. I’ve taken note it’s a great ASMR video!

  10. I love watching your videos, Brian…but one thing I always wish is that you would show more of a close-up of what you’re doing. Some of your viewers don’t have 20/20 vision. :b Thanks for the video.

Also, I finally got your blog posts to show up in my RSSowl so you will have to put up with me a lot more now. =)

  11. Thanks Brian, great video. Some really useful hints. I will try the one using the markers on the clear block. I always seem to smear the image when I try to color directly on the paper with pens and then blend.

  12. You make it look so easy. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

  13. Great Video Brian 🙂 I have a love/hate relationship with my blenders so might give them another try

  14. My blender pen has dried up. Is there anything I can use to make it work again? Love all your videos and all your tips!!

    • Sue – I have had some Blender Pens for 10 years that are still working. I’m sure there’s a way to get them going again once they’ve dried up, but I suggest you just buy another set. They are 3 to a pack and relatively inexpensive – with two tips on each pen. I know a guy who sells these awesome pens! 🙂

  15. Like you, I love to color. But I always forget about my blender pens. This is a great video Brian. Thanks for sharing it. Now, let me go find those little gems so I can play. 🙂

  16. LOVE your videos, Brian…especially about coloring. Think I have given each of my three customers a Blender Pen and will now share your email with them to really see how to use it! THANK YOU!
