Flurry of Wishes in Purple

Want to play a super-fun game?  I’m going to list five things, and you are going to tell me what all five of these things have in common.  Ready?

  • Prince and the Revolution
  • A one-eyed, one horned flying people eater
  • Barney the dinosaur
  • An award-winning novel by Alice Walker
  • My friend, Windy Ellard

If you guessed “purple” – you are right!  Today’s project is inspired by all of these things (but mostly my good friend, Windy Ellard).  Was it Windy’s name that gave it away?  You see, Windy is crazy about purple.  There’s no hiding the fact that it’s her favorite color – it’s in her clothes, on her fingernails and in Windy’s eye shadow.  She does not hesitate to create an all-purple card (something I typically would do).  But not today.  Here’s my very purple card:

Flurry of Wishes, Embellished Ornaments, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Flurry of Wishes.  Flurry of Wishes is this year’s snowflake stamp and punch bundle.  What a great collection of flurries that coordinate perfectly with the Snow Flurry Punch and Flower Medallion punch.  I stamped this snowflake in Blackberry Bliss on Thick Whisper White and punched it out with the Snow Flurry punch.  The sentiment, too, is from the wonderful stamp set.

  • Measurements.  The square of Wisteria Wonder in the center of the card measures 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″ and is bordered by a 2-7/8″ square of Blackberry Bliss.  I cropped a circle in the middle of the Wisteria Wonder panel with a 2″ Circle punch – a perfect way to showcase the beautiful snowflake.  The Whisper White base of the card is 3-1/2″ x 5″, and the strip from the 2014-2016 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack is 2″ thick (to correspond with the 2″ circle).  All together, they make for a well-balanced card.
  • Purple.  While there are certainly other purples in the Stampin’ Up! color families, Blackberry Bliss and Wisteria Wonder are my favorites.  Wisteria Wonder has a musty, gray overtone, while Blackberry Bliss is rich and regal.  Together they are purple perfection.Stampin' Up! 6. Love it, Brian. Our granddaughter’s name is Violet, so of course we think all the purple family of colors is terrific. I’d add some glitter to the snowflake and call it mine 🙂

  8. Balanced in deed, very nice!

  9. I have not tried the Blackberry Bliss with the Wisteria Wonder but you bet I will now! I have a friend who demands purple cards and I am so tired of thinking of new ideas. I am just going to CASE away with this one! I was ordering this stamp set at card club Tuesday anyway so this is just perfect. I guessed Purple right away. Boy, with this card and the card holding the gift card yesterday – you are making my holidays sing!

  10. Wow, I usually see your blog first thing in the am but just getting home and seeing how awesome is your purple card! I do not have that much purple though I am wearing purple eye shadow today! What a great honor that I inspired you since you inspire me all the time! Hugs!

  11. Wow, so pretty! Purple and berry are favorites of mine also. Used to make cards with Pretty Plum and soft Plum and then they retired soft plum. Have been looking for combo with Wisteria Wonder. Thanks, my friend you found it! Windy a great lady to honor! Hugs

  12. I love purple too ! Love your card!

  13. I miss the old Lavender Lace, I used it for my winter scenes along with Elegant Eggplant. This also captures my other favorite; snowflakes. Can’t get enough of them (there is no snow where I live – or rain for that matter!)

  14. You always come up with such fun cards. Not to forget, anything that has Blackberry Bliss on it has to be superb!

  15. Lovely card Brian! I love that you used purple for a non-traditional color on a Christmas card.
