Joyful Season Thank You Card

You don’t have to box up your Christmas-themed stamp sets and Designer Series Papers the minute you are done with your Christmas cards.  After all the amazing gifts you are about to receive during the holidays, you’re going to need to send lots of thank you cards – and you can use many of those images and papers for your thank you cards.  I’ve yet to use the two-step cardinal from the Joyful Season stamp set, so I thought this thank you card would be a great time to break it in:

Joyful Season, One Big Meaning, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Joyful Season.  Like I mentioned earlier in this post, this is the first time I inked up this cardinal – why did it take me so long?  I wish I hadn’t waited so long.  It’s not the first time I’ve inked up this stamp set, though.  I’ve used the sentiments in this set a couple of times – really great ones.  If this set isn’t in your collection, here are the great images you’ll find:

  • Just Hanging Out.  I stamped this sentiment and bird on a piece of Whisper White cardstock before trimming away at the sides to find a shape I liked.  I knew I wanted to cardinal’s tail to hang over the edge of the panel a bit, so I carefully snipped toward the tail on both sides before snipping out the end of the tail.  So easy!  To see how I used this technique in another card, click here.Tips for using Stampin' Trimmer Blades, Stampin' Up!
  • Color Combination.  The bird is beautiful in red, and the sentiment is perfect in black.  Combine the two of these on a Soft Suede backdrop, and I’m a happy camper.  Since these three colors were paired together in a Designer Series Paper last year (or was it the year before?), I’ve been a huge fan of the combination.  If you like it, too, feel free to save this:Stampin' Up!
