Sweet Color Combinations for Valentine’s Day

When gremlins crept into my blog yesterday, no email message went out to notify subscribers that a post was up.  As such, many of you missed my super-sweet card that’s the inspiration for today’s post.  If you missed my Rose Garden Thinlits project, please make sure you check it out here.

I love playing with paper, and I love working with shapes and layouts.  More than all of that, I am drawn to the power of colors.  The way colors are mixed on a project can really define the mood or feel of a card.  Stampin’ Up!’s current color families offer a wide variety of colors that can be paired in so many wild and wonderful ways.  Christmas hasn’t yet arrived, but it’s time to start thinking about the next big card-giving holiday – Valentine’s Day.  That’s right – it’ll be here before you know it.  🙂

Today I want to share some sweet color combinations that are perfect for Valentine’s Day.  Each of these color combinations contain two pinks and one neutral.

Rose Red and Blushing Bride are composed of beautiful, brown tones.

Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration for Valentine's Day

Rose Red and Blushing Bride look so lovely together.  Paired with Crumb Cake, these musty pinks are displayed beautifully in the Love Blossoms Designer Series Paper Stack in the upcoming Occasions Catalog.  The patterns and designs in this stack are gorgeous, but the colors really define its beauty.

Real Red, Pink Pirouette and Melon Mambo pair perfectly with shades of gray.

Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration for Valentine's Day

Let’s be honest – a Valentine’s Day card wouldn’t be right without a bunch of pink and red.  You don’t typically think of Smoky Slate or Basic Gray on a Valentine’s Day card, but it’s really quite lovely with these pinks and red, don’t you think?  The neutral shades help to tame the sugary sweetness of the pinks.

Which of these combinations is your favorite?  As you start to plan out your Valentine’s Day projects, I hope these suggestions help to inspire you to pair these pinks and reds for the upcoming celebration of love.

Thanks for stopping by today!
