Love…it’s in the Air for PPA282

The Pals Paper Arts is launching the new year with a new look, reshuffled design teams and lots of great challenges.  How exciting!  This week’s sketch offers a great layout that can be used for any card, but I reached right for my Valentine’s goodies.  A mix of items from the 2015-2016 Annual Catalog and the 2016 Occasions Catalog, I made this card:

Friendly Wishes, Bloomin' Love, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PPA282

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Stamp Sets.  My card pairs two stamp sets from two different catalogs to make one, unique card.  While Friendly Wishes has been around since the new catalog launched in 2016, this is the first time the set is available during Valentine’s Day.  If you don’t already have it, I suspect you’ll wish you did when you sit down to make cards for your friends and loved ones.  The masked off “love” is adorned with a string of dots from the same set and paired perfectly with “…is in the air” from the 2106 Occasions Catalog’s Bloomin’ Love stamp set.  I’d venture to say you’ll need both of these versatile sets.  🙂

  • Gorgeous Print.  While the sentiments are crucial on this card, the sketch offers a wonderful opportunity to showcase a large panel of Designer Series Paper.  I thought this intricate and delicate design of Rose Red hearts and leaves from the Love Blossoms Designer Series Paper Stack was a perfect backdrop for the card – the monochromatic print allowed me to play with other colors, as well.  Just look at all the gorgeous prints in this pack of paper:

  • Bring in the Green.  The Love Blossoms Designer Series Paper is filled with Rose Red, Blushing Bride, Garden Green and Crumb Cake patterns.  The piece of paper I chose for this project is Rose Red and Whisper White, so I could go ANYWHERE with my other colors.  I stuck with Blushing Bride (what a great accent to Rose Red!) and added Mossy Meadow.  I’ve really fallen in love with that rich green color and will be sad to see it go later this year (unless it’s saved in a color refresh).  If you like this color combination, too, feel free to save this:Stampin' Up! 1. Love this card. Love your creativity. Maybe you would include dimensions for off-set cards (like this one) and irregularly shaped cards for the many of us who are mathematically challenged.

  2. Brilliant idea to mask the sentiments and create your own message!

  3. What a “Love”ly card, Brian! The DSP you used looks fantastic with your creative stamping!

  4. Absolutely gorgeous card (as always) Brian. The best part about this card is that it can be sent to a friend, a relative, someone as an engagement card. It’s versatile enough to be used for a lot more than just Valentine’s Day for sure. Love it.

  5. You always manage to find a unique combo of stamps for your sentiment and you did not disappoint with this card. Masterfully done!

  6. Lovely and so versatile. Im needing a card for a wedding shower and this would be perfect!
