Easter Lamb for Baby

Even though Easter Lamb, one of the new stamps in Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Occasions Catalog, might seem to be limited to Easter projects, this sweet lamb is really quite versatile.  For today’s card, this lamb pops in to play “peek-a-boo” with a new baby girl.  All decked out with a big pink bow, how adorable is she?

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Easter Lamb.  I mean, really.  How sweet is this little lamb?  I heat embossed her on Basic Gray cardstock with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder before cropping her out with my Ovals Collection Framelits.  By showcasing only her sweet face and part of her body, she really appears to be “peek”ing in to say hi.  The pink bow adds that touch of sweetness that sends her over-the-top.  I stamped the bow (from Bear Hugs stamp set) with Archival Basic Gray ink and snipped it out to get clean edges on the bow.  How simple is that?

  • Other Pieces Parts.  For such a simple card, this project includes quite a few products – papers, punches, stamps sets and framelits dies.  Each one of them plays quite an important part in the makeup of this card.  I’ve created a diagram to walk you through each of the components – hope you like it.Easter Lamb, Suite Sayings, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Sweet Colors.  Since Blushing Bride is incorporated into a lot of the papers in the Occasions Catalog, I’ve been using a lot of that color lately.  For this sweet card, though, I reached for the softer, grayer Pink Pirouette – I first shared this color combination on THIS POST.  Blushing Bride pairs perfectly with browns, while Pink Pirouette pairs perfectly with grays.  If you like this combination, too, feel free to save this:Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration: Pink Pirouette, Basic Gray, Whisper White

Stamp Sets:  Easter Lamb, Suite Sayings, Bear Hugs  Papers:  Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack, Basic Gray, Whisper White, Pink Pirouette  Inks:  Archival Basic Gray, VersaMark  Accessories:  White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Ovals Collection Framelits, Washi Label punch, Heat Tool, Stampin’ Dimensionals.

What do you think?  Can you see how versatile this little lamb can be?

Thanks for stopping by today!

  2. Love your little lamb peeking in (vs. screeching to a halt)! It’s especially adorable with the white on gray.

  3. Hi Brian
Did you only show the lamb’s head because of your “feet thing”? I did have a little giggle when I read that in one of your previous posts with the bear. Sweet card just the same.

  14. Hi Brian:

Only you my friend could create something so sweet and simple looking from so many combinations of materials. I wish I had that artistic sight. If I get stamps from two different sets on one card and have it look good I spend days trying to get my ego back where it belongs! This card is just delightful and anyone with a new little girl would be absolutely thrilled to receive it.

  15. Dear Brian, I LOVE THIS CARD! The colors, the design, the mesh and so on… Really wonderful. Some wishes from Austria. Daniela Hödl

  19. All of your cards are great! I love all of them! One quick question… What do you think of thick whisper white vs. the regular??? Please let me know. Thanks, Mary

    • Thanks for your question, Mary. The Thick Whisper White is 100# paper, colored cardstock is 80# and Whisper White is much lighter than that. In essence, the Thick Whisper White can be used for a solid base on a card and for popping up and layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals if you don’t want to layer it with cardstock (to pop up a sentiment in a circle, for example). It’s thick enough to not get destroyed in the mail if popped up. The finish on the Thick Whisper White is the same as Whisper White, so you get the same results from stamping (although it can withstand a bit more with light watercoloring). If you haven’t tried Thick Whisper White, you should definitely give it a try. I love it. I hope that helps.
