Words of Truth for PPA296

Susan Itell has created a wonderful sketch for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge.  Although I’ve flexed my creative muscles a bit to interpret her sketch, it’s there.  It’s all there.  🙂  I used In the Meadow and Words of Truth to create this nature-inspired “you’re awesome” card.  As such, I’ve sumbitted it to this week’s Global Design Project “Nature” challenge, as well.  Here’s my card:

And here are the banners for the challenges that inspired my card:

PPA-296-Apr14GDP031Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • In the Meadow and Words of Truth.  I have always love the sketched lettering in the word “remember” from Words of Truth.  Being the font-lover that I am, the style always spoke to me.  But why would you send a card with the word “remember” across the front?  Ooooh!  I know!  Is there a more perfect way to remind a friend who’s going through a tough time that you love them?  The words from Words of Truth and the trees from In the Meadow fit perfectly together in this clean and easy card.

  • Punched Spotlight.  I don’t know if there’s an official term for the technique I used to highlight part of this sentiment in the circle, but I shall call it Punched Spotlight.  I simply stamped the sentiment on the Very Vanilla card front and then again on a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock.  I punched the Sahara Sand piece and glued it right on top of the Very Vanilla panel.  The sentiment just wraps right over top of the circle.  You can see this technique again (before it was so formally named) on a baby card I made last year – you can see it here.In the Meadow, Words of Truth, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PPA296
  • Natural Colors.  While I’m crazy about all shades and variations of colors, but I love a beautifully muted look, as well.  The natural appeal of these four colors is so warm and wonderful, don’t you agree?  If you like this combination of colors, too, feel free to save this for future inspiration:Stampin' Up!
