Happily Hitched for PPA298

There are few things on this Earth I love more than Ginger Toivonen.  Ginger is my dear friend from Butte, Montana and a longtime member of the Pals.  Ginger is a quiet, gentle soul – such a sweet person – with a super-sharp sense of humor that I adore.  Ginger is the Featured Designer for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge – with all this love I have for Ginger, how could I NOT play along, right?  I decided to make a fun and flirty wedding congratulations card.  Here’s my card:

You're Sublime, Writing Notes, Happy Happenings, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PPA298

And here’s Ginger’s sketch that inspired my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Perfect Pairing.  The combination of the trailer from You’re Sublime and the “Happily Hitched” sentiment from Happy Happenings is almost perfect!  I reached from the sentiment set, thinking I might use “Bonjour, Beautiful” as a fun send-off.  The moment I saw the “hitched” sentiment, I knew I had to use it.  How could I not?!  Both of these sets are carrying over to Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Annual Catalog, but you need them now (if they aren’t already in your collection).  🙂  Take a look!

  • Avoiding the sketch.  Early in the design of this card, I decided I would use the lopsided panels from this sketch as a background for my trailer and sentiment, but I knew wouldn’t rely on those shapes.  I simply snipped the trailer and punched the circles and placed them on these fun panels.  I think Ginger’s fun panels served me well. You're Sublime, Writing Notes, Happy Happenings, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PPA298
  • Wooden Panels.  Did you notice the wood panels on my trailer?  Want to know how I created those on this fun trailer?  Of course you do!  First, I inked up the Writing Notes background stamp with Crumb Cake and stamped it on Crumb Cake cardstock.  Next, I inked up the trailer from You’re Sublime with Archival Basic Black and stamped it over the Crumb Cake stripes.  I colored all the borders of the trailer with a Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker, which adequately covered the around those pieces.  The remaining components of the trailer (the window, the door, the wheel, the flag) were covered with snipped pieces. You're Sublime, Writing Notes, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
