Sneak Peek: Gift of Love for GDP036

This week, the Global Design Project has the privilege of CASEing a project by one of our own – Paula Dobson.  Paula is a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator in New Zealand – shout out to New Zealand!.  Her creations inspire me all the time – she creates clean cards with an artistic edge.  She’s also a supportive friend with a great sense of humor – there’s always room in my life for funny people.  Here’s my card:

Gift of Love, Bloomin' Love, Stampin' Up!, Copper Embossing Powder, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, GDP036  And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:GDP036Paula used Tip Top Taupe and Pool Party to create this beautiful backdrop of flowers from Wild About Flowers, and her sentiment just pops with modern, fun words.

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Gift of Love.  I love the value of Host sets – exclusive, specially-priced stamp sets.  When you spend $150 or more on a single Stampin’ Up! order, you earn Stampin’ Rewards.  You can use those Stampin’ Rewards for any current products, or you can use them to purchase Host sets.  Gift of Love is one of the new Host sets in the upcoming 2016 Annual Catalog – a gorgeous collection of flowers (I’m told they are gladiolus – is that right?).  It’s a three-step set – (1) stamp the outline, (2) stamp the image of the flowers, stamp the image of the leaves.

  • Copper.  Like Paula, I paired the rich browns with the pale blue for my card.  Not only does the card feature the Tip Top Taupe base and sentiments, but I also incorporated the NEW Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  What a gorgeous shine!  Not only did I emboss the outline of the flowers before stamping them with Pool Party (and the leaves with Pear Pizzazz), but I also added Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder to the thin frame around the front panel.  I didn’t use up ALL of my powder on the entire panel – instead, I stamped my VersaMark pad around the edge of the panel and covered it with Copper.  Here are the components of the card before they were assembled:Gift of Love, Bloomin' Love, Stampin' Up!, Copper Embossing Powder, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, GDP036
  • Perfect Sentiment.  I love how Paula pairs her soft, sweet flowers with a modern, fresh sentiment.  I love the scrolled sentiments in Gift of Love, but I really wanted to follow Paula’s lead.  As I ran my fingers over the spines of all my stamp cases, looking for the right sentiment, my finger stopped at Bloomin’ Love.  The typeset fonts gave me just what I wanted, so I stamped them down in Tip Top Taupe.  Perfect!
