Fabulous Four Meets Paper Pumpkin

This week’s FabFriday color challenge is a beautiful combination of blue, yellow and purple: Bermuda Bay, Hello Honey and Blackberry Bliss.  Although my May 2016 Paper Pumpkin kit, Many Manly Occasions doesn’t include these colors, I reached for the white die cut panel to create my project for this challenge.  It gave me a perfect starting point for combining these colors into a fun, celebratory card.  Here’s my card:Fabulous Four, Balloon Celebration, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FabFri88

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Many Manly Occasions.  If you aren’t in the U.S. or aren’t a Paper Pumpkin subscriber, then you might not recognize the trendy die-cut background on my card.  Well, let me introduce you to the fun projects from May’s Paper Pumpkin kit – die cut backgrounds, die cut letters and a fun stamp set for almost every occasion.  I used this week’s FabFriday colors to color block my card for a fun celebration.  If you would like to sign up to receive a Paper Pumpkin each month (it’s always such a great day when the kit arrives), you can click here to subscribe.  If you have questions, please email me.

  • Color Blocking.  Just like in fashion, large panels of color can be paired together to make a beautiful look.  If the colors look great together, the blocking can go almost unnoticed, but if they clash, then the statement can be bold and brash.  I taped panels of Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey behind this die-cut panel to create bold, contrasting colors.  When I added the panel of Bermuda Bay to the front of the card, though, the color blocking really worked to created a beautiful card.
  • Fabulous Four.  This “celebrate” sentiment (from Fabulous Four) is probably my most reached-for and most-used stamp set ever.  I just adore the font and love the idea of a fun celebration – who doesn’t?  When the sentiment fit so perfectly against the band of this die cut, I couldn’t resist but to use it one last time before it goes away forever.  I stamped the sentiment with VersaMark and covered it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  When I heat set it with my Heat Tool, the entire sentiment popped.Fabulous Four, Balloon Celebration, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FabFri88

I love the way you positioned the balloon string on this card. It was the absolute perfect touch to tie in the bottom panel with the top without overdoing it. Just an incredibly gorgeous card creation for sure. Enjoy your day.
