Confetti Celebration for CYCI#122 and PP297

The card I’m sharing today is all about blending.  OK, so there’s no fancy watercoloring or color-blending technique in this card.  Instead, I’ve blended two challenges (a sketch from Can You Case It? and a Tic-Tac-Toe challenge from the Paper Players), and I’ve blended new products from Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Catalog (GOES LIVE TOMORROW) with retiring products (last day today) and products that are carrying forward into the new catalog.  That’s a whole lot of blending for a relatively simple card, don’t you think?  Here’s my card:

Confetti Celebration, Cottage Greetings, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, CYCI#122, PP297

And here are the banners for the challenges that inspired my card:

CYCI#122

PP297For the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge, I selected the three challenges from the left hand column: Yellow, Masculine and Embossing.

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • What’s New or Carrying Forward?  This card features three items that will be in the 2016 Annual Catalog (open for business tomorrow) – one is brand new and the other two are carrying forward.  Confetti Celebration is a brilliant, new stamp set in the 2016 Annual Catalog that is sure to be on your wish list – it’s filled with fun shapes and sentiments for a variety of festive celebrations.  I paired this “Yay!” from Confetti Celebration (cropped with the carrying-forward Stars Framelits) with these two sentiments from Cottage Greetings.  I love the pairing of all three for a perfectly fun card.

  • What’s Retiring?  Today is the last day we can order items from the 2015-2016 Annual Catalog or from the 2016 Occasions Catalog.  As many of these items have been on a “while supplies last” status, many are already gone – FOREVER.  How dramatic is that?!  🙂  The two retiring items on this card are the Going Places Designer Series Paper Stack (from the Occasions Catalog) and the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack (used to create the three small stars).  Both items are currently available as I write this post on Monday – we know they will no longer be available tomorrow.  They are great products, and I hate to see them go – but I can’t wait for you to get your hands on all the new goodies in the new catalog.  Amazing!
  • Color and Color Balance.  This printed paper from the Going Places Designer Series Paper Stack features Basic Black, Mossy Meadow and Delightful Dijon.  The Dijon is faint enough that I could safely pair it with the brighter, crisper Crushed Curry.  I embossed sentiment with White Embossing Powder on Crushed Curry cardstock.  While I knew the star would pop against the dark paper, the sentiment didn’t really pop out at me (the yellow and white were too close for those slim letters), so I grabbed my Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker and filled in the letters.  Easy!  I added the three small stars on the top panel to fill the white a bit and to draw the dark pattern from the bottom of the card to the top a bit.  Made for a better balanced card.Confetti Celebration, Cottage Greetings, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, CYCI#122, PP297
