A Little Expression of Love

I adore the simplicity of a simple card that’s beautifully layered.  Give me a great sentiment and some beautiful paper to play with, and I’m a happy man.  I made this sweet-and-simple card with a variety of great Stampin’ Up! products:

Painter's Palette, Lovely Amazing You, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Sentiment/Image Combo.  The focal point of this card is the “A little expression of love” sentiment from Painter’s Palette that’s combined with a Sweet Sugarplum feather from Lovely Amazing You.  Both are cropped with the Tags & Labels Framelits to create a beautifully tailored frame for the sentiment.  While Painter’s Palette is new in the 2016 Annual Catalog, Lovely Amazing You is an online-only and while-supplies-last offering.  The two work perfectly together – I love the sentiments in both.

  • Blooms & Bliss for a Beautiful Backdrop.  I wanted more than just a solid backdrop for this simple card, but I wanted to stick with a simple color palette.  To create a little bit of texture without a bunch of work, I reached for my Blooms & Bliss Designer Series Paper – the soft, textured page pairs perfectly with the sweet sentiment and soft feather, don’t you think?  Here’s a peek at the other pages in this sweet collection of papers:

  • Color Combination.  While I love the softness of Sweet Sugarplum, I’m not a purple-purple-purple person.  Likewise, I enjoy my share of chocolate, but I don’t like death by chocolate desserts.  Too much of a good thing is not a good thing.  Anywho…to cut the sugar from the sugarplums a bit, I combined it with Basic Black and Whisper White.  Still, the sugarplum shines through.Stampin' Up! 7. Well, you’ve done it again, you ol’ craftomancer! I thought I could sell that set since there were so many other fanTAStic sentiments in the new catty. And I know a schwoopie would work in the place of that feather…..BUT THAT FEATHER!!! That perfect little feather just tenderly floating through your sentiment….I die.

  8. Absolutely stunning, Brian!

  9. Hi Brian:

I think that Sweet Sugarplum color is just the prettiest color ever! It so reminds me of pink sherbet. AND I do have to agree with Annie that the feather is just gorgeous and that reminds me of Forrest Gump, one of the best movies I’ve ever watched. Well, now that I’ve blatted on and on I need to tell you what a fantastically beautiful card you have created here. Your layering, as always, is superb! Your color combination is fabulous and you yourself are the “WOW” in stamping creativity.

  10. You make Sweet Sugarplum even sweeter with your creative skills!

  12. Love it, Brian! The colors in that paper are just gorgeous! And I love the feather beneath the sentiment! Why do I forget to do that? Thanks for reminding me & for sharing your beautiful card!

  13. You’ve done it again! Putting the black layers between the other layers is what makes such a statement. It’s crisp, clean and so inviting to the eye.
Thank you for continuing to show us beautiful creations.
