Love You Always for GDP045

I’m running a two-for-one special today!  I created two cards for this week’s Global Design Project color challenge – and I’m sharing them both with you.  I unintentionally created a card with these colors two weeks ago (you can see it here), but I was excited to play with them all over again for this week’s challenge.  Here are the cards I made for this Basic Black, Smoky Slate and Melon Mambo color challenge:Sunshine Sayings, Sunshine Wishes Thinlits, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, GDP045With the same layout and colors, I challenged myself to make one card that would be appropriate for a man and one card that would be appropriate for a woman.  Both say the same thing and have hearts in the background.

The Feminine Card.  The Pop of Pink background and Melon Mambo borders really make this a card that any woman would love to receive:

Sunshine Sayings, Sunshine Wishes Thinlits, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, GDP045

The Masculine Card.  Despite the big, pink heart and the sappy sentiment, the background of Smoky Slate hearts from A Little Foxy Designer Series Paper Stack and an overall neutral landscape make this card perfect for the man in your life:

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

  • Sunshine Sayings Bundle.  I can’t say enough about how much I love this Sunshine Sayings Bundle – I’ve likely used it more than anything else from Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Annual Catalog.  There’s nothing more versatile than this set – fun, festive, solemn or sweet.  You can make just about any card with this bundle – I love it.  AND GOOD NEWS: When you purchase this bundle between now and July 31, you are just $5 away from earning a $5 off coupon you can spend in August – you can read more about Stampin’ Up!’s Bonus Days at the end of this post.  LOVE IT!  You can click on either one of these photos to see more information about these products:

  • Fun Heart-filled Papers.  Two Designer Series Papers fit the bill for this week’s color challenge – and both have a pattern that’s covered with hearts.  The “feminine card” features tiny white and pink hearts from the Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper Stack, while the “masculine card” features all kinds of Smoky Slate hearts from A Little Foxy Designer Series Paper Stacks.  Both are great packs of paper – Pop of Pink is striking, but I’m particularly drawn to the versatility of A Little Foxy.

  • The Focal Panel.  While the papers discussed above provide a perfect backdrop for this card, the Smoky Slate panel with the heart and sentiment is the focal point of each card.  While I could have floated the panel in the center of the card, I decided to drop it into the lower, right corner of the card.  Not only did that give a little interest to the card, but it also allowed the Designer Series Papers to shine a bit more.

Stamp Sets:  Sunshine Sayings  Papers:  Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper, A Little Foxy Designer Series Paper Stack, Smoky Slate, Basic Black, Melon Mambo  Inks:  Archival Basic Black  Accessories:  Sunshine Wishes Thinlits Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I hope you’ll pop over to The Global Design Project site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Brian
