HO HO HO with Large Letters and Hang Your Stocking

I’m really excited to share today’s card with you.  This idea has been floating around in my brain for a while now, and I had some time to put my idea down on paper.  It came out just as I had imagined –   even better.  It all starts with Stampin’ Up!’s Large Letters dies and ends with a wonderful Christmas greeting.  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Large Letters Framelits Dies.  You need these.  That’s all I can say.  I’ve been promoting the benefits of the Large Letters Framelits Dies since they debuted in Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Annual Catalog, and I keep coming up with more reasons.  I cropped a bunch of H’s and O’s with the Large Letters Framelits (and a handful of stars from the Christmas Stockings Thinlits so that “HO” wouldn’t translate to “OH”).  Here’s a peek at that bundle that you really need (can I say that enough?):

  • Faux Embossing.  Since I used tone-on-tone Real Red for this background, it might look like my letters are created from a Textured Embossing Folder – that’s not the case, though.  I cropped the letters, lined them up and glued them down.  I love the effect of this technique – Mom shared a video with you.  If you missed her video, you can click on this picture to see the original post that shared her video:Faux Embossing Technique, Stampin' Up!
  • A Sweet Sentiment.  I love that this card features only two colors – Real Red and Whisper White.  I didn’t want to cover up the faux embossed background too much, so this small, slender sentiment was perfect for my card.  I layered this sentiment (from Hang Your Stocking) with red and white layers from the Layering Ovals Framelits Dies to create the perfect, ruffled sentiment for this card.
