Put the Merry in my Christmas for PPA316

The Pals Paper Arts is hosting a super-fun challenge this week.  Patti MacLeith has created a sketch that created great inspiration for all the designers.  The variety of cards is quite amazing.  I created a Christmas card with peppermints, peppermint stripes and an adorable sentiment.  Here’s my card:

My Hero, Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper, Presents & Pinecones Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PPA316

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

PPA316Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Papers.  I used two papers from Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Holiday Catalog to create this Christmas beauty.  Can you pick them out?  I know you can, but I’m going to tell you anyway.  Wouldn’t it be strange if the post just ended there?  The large panel behind the sentiment is from Presents and Pinecones – I love how Emerald Envy and Mint Macaron play together in this paper.  The less obvious paper is Candy Cane Lane.  Although I had several cute candies to choose from (in Candy Cane Christmas and Jar of Cheer), I simply cropped these three from a page of Candy Cane Lane.  Easy!

  • Coloring on Stamps.  I adore this sentiment – not only is it fun and festive, but I adore the fonts.  It’s from My Hero, the Ronald McDonald House Charities set found on the back cover of the Annual Catalog.  I colored this sentiment with my Real Red and Emerald Envy Stampin’ Write Markers, huffed on it and then stamped it down before cropping it with the Tags & Labels Framelits.  Here’s a link to my video that showcases different ways to “paint” on rubber stamps with Stampin’ Write Markers:four ways to color a stamp
  • Candy Cane Colors.  The colors on this card were pulled right from the striped page of Presents & Pinecones Designer Series Paper.  These colors, paired with the right amount of white, work perfectly together.  I just adore this bold stripe, so I decided to add no more colors.  If you like this combination, too, feel free to save this as inspiration:Stampin' Up!
