A Flourish of Thanks for CTS193

This week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge gave me a chance to step away from Fall-themed projects to make a thank you card I really needed to make.  In an unexpected twist, I used Fall colors that make this card a great card for this time of year.  It can certainly be sent any time of year, but the soft orange and brown pair perfectly together with Very Vanilla for a soft, sweet card.  Here’s my project:

And here’s the banner for this week’s CAS(E) this Sketch challenge by Leigh Penner that inspired my card:

CTS193Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Flourish Framelits Dies.  I adore the variety of Thinlits that Stampin’ Up! has been offering as of late.  The gorgeous flourish was really easy to create with my Precision Base Plate – if you don’t have it, it’s a must.  I wanted this large flourish to be the focus of this project – what an amazing impact!  It’s not the only image available in the collection of  dies, though.  These dies are perfect for any project at any time of year.  Here’s a closer look at the other dies in the collection:

  • Do Over.  I created this card twice.  For my first attempt, I paired the Blushing Bride version of this gorgeous thatched paper with a Basic Black flourish.  I like pink-and-black combos, but this wasn’t working for me.  I either needed to rework the colors or change out the flourish.  Lucky for me, the Peekaboo thatched paper was a perfect replacement – the black was just too harsh against the soft pink.  It wasn’t difficult to recreate the card in a brown and orange version.  Thanks, Stampin’ Up!
  • Color Combination.  While the elements of this card are decidedly not-Fall, they fit perfectly with this time of year because of the colors.  The Peekaboo Peach and Very Vanilla panel of Playful Palette Designer Series Paper sets the stage for this Soft Suede flourish.  If you also like this combination of colors feel free to save this:Stampin' Up!
