Wish Big!

This is a card I’m making for an Atlanta shoebox swap next weekend. Pam, my stampin’ momma (although she’s definitely not old enough or tall enough to be my biological mother), is coordinating this event, and I’m really looking forward to it!

I wanted to design a card that uses a stamp set and punch in a creative and different way. Although I was falling all over myself with pride over how I made the cupcake top into an ice cream scoop (who would ever think of that?! Bravo, Brian!), I now see that this very idea is presented in the Idea Book and Catalog on page 69 (opposite of the Create a Cupcake stamp set. Although I just came up with this, I like to think that Stampin’ Up! stole my idea and put it into their book a little over a year ago. πŸ™‚

Here’s how I made it:

I cut out a small triangle – although the Petite Pennants Punch (122361) would be perfect for the cone and then ran it through the Big Shot (113439) using the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (119976) to give the “waffle cone” texture. I stamped several cupcake tops from Create a Cupcake (121915) and then punched them out with my Cupcake Builder Punch (121807). I also punched the cherry using real red card stock scraps. The “wish big” tag is stamped from Bring on the Cake (121899). The stamp has a big hand holding the “wish big” sign. I snipped out the words and used them as a tag. I mounted the cupcake on a piece of discontinued Designer Series Paper. Side note – I am very excited to see all the new Designer Series Paper in Stampin’ Up!’s new Catalog and Idea Book.

Good news! Create a Cupcake (121915), Cupcake Builder Punch (121807) and Bring on the Cake (121899) are not being retired this year and will be included in the 2012-2013 Stampin’ Up! Catalog and Idea Book (soon to be released).

  1. The texture on the cone makes it so realistic Brian. Fun card!
