I spent my morning and afternoon at an Atlanta stamp-a-stack. Pam Morris pulled together this wonderful group of women (and me!) from Splitcoast Stampers. We had a great time making each other’s cards and cutting up. After five hours of stamping, I should be really tired and should stay clear of crafting projects, right? Absolutely not! These ladies inspired me. No rest for the weary when there’s stamping to be done!
I often create challenges for myself (in and out of the stamping world) to keep me on my toes. I motivate myself with little goals like “use a stamp set that I haven’t used in a while” or “make something beautiful with a stamp set that doesn’t naturally appeal to me.”
Or how about “open the products I just bought and actually put them to use”? I have accumulated quite a stash of Stampin’ Up!’s Designer Series Paper over the years, but I haven’t really put it to use like I should. I see how other people use the DSP, but I haven’t forced myself to cut into the 12″x12″ sheets (what am I so afraid of?). With this in mind, here’s what I made tonight:

The 3-D flower is “borrowed” from a card Pam designed for Margaret and me the first day we met her. It’s simple! Simply punch out five scalloped circles on Designer Series Paper, attach a brad in the middle, and scrunch (that’s the technical term!) the paper, starting with the one one the inside. If the paper is too stiff, spray a light mist of Stampin’ Mist over the paper. Here’s a close-up of the flower to show the dimension:

I used Twitterpated Designer Series Paper from this year’s Occasions Mini Catalog. The opposite side of the floral print is the green plaid print. I used a heart punch to create the leaves on the stem of the flower.
Thanks for the inspiration, Pam!
What I used:
Papers: Island Indigo, Twitterpated Designer Series Paper, Red Riding Hood Red, Whisper White
Accessories: 1-3/4″ Scallop Punch (119854), Full Heart Punch (119883), 3/16″ Brads – Neutrals (119736), Stampin’ Mist (102394)
