PPA137 – Betsy’s Blossoms Thank You

This card is created from another challenge. My card structure is based on a layout by Margaret Moody and posted to Pals Paper Arts.

Here’s her sketch:

And here’s my card:

Using my Stamp-a-Majig, I captured black-and-white images on the outside of the center piece and bright, bold colors on the inside. This effect, along with the large color blocks on top of the card, really draws your attention to the bold colors of the flower and leaf at the center of the card.

Stamp sets: Betsy’s Blossoms, Itty Bitty Banners
Papers: Basic Black, Melon Mambo, Whisper White
Inks: Basic Black, Melon Mambo, Gumball Green

  13. Like others, I think this card is stunning! Great pop of color and color blocking is so “in” right now. If it’s handy, would you mind sharing the dimensions of the various paper blocks? I don’t want to be totally spoon-fed, but doing the math can be quite frustrating for me (I tell everyone I got a degree in journalism because it only require three hours of math!) 🙂

I imagine I’ll spend a great amount of time getting the images to meet up (whatever would we do without our Stamp-a-Majigs?!?). If your dimensions aren’t handy, I completely understand – I’ll soldier on and attempt to recreate your work of beauty.

    Fabulous!!

    • Thanks, Amy! I’ll try to write down the dimensions when I get home. I will admit, though, that I had to trim the overlay piece from its original size to get it to line up with the stamped image on the base. It can get tricky, but I like the end result.

      • Thanks so very much ~ but please only do this if it truly won’t take much time. It’s funny, isn’t it, that the most gorgeous, clean and simple cards can look rather easy at first blush, but are much more involved once you start studying them? And the reverse is sometimes true.
I do appreciate it ~ thanks for sharing your talent with all of us! 🙂

        • Not a problem! I’m honored that you are interested. I started with a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ base of Basic Black and added a 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ piece of Whisper White. The Melon Mambo strip is 1″ across the top, and the black strip is 3/4″. The center Whisper White piece is roughly a 2-1/2″ square with a 1/8″ border of black around it. Like I said, I had to shave away the excess to get that piece perfectly centered and balanced, so it’s not exact. Would love to see what you come up with!!! Thanks!
