Welcome to the Pals New Catalog Blog Hop!  The Stampin’ Pretty Pals are excited to share some fabulous cards and projects showcasing our favorite products from the new Stampin’ Up! Catalog!  You’ve probably hopped over from Nina Dee’s blog at Deesigns by Nina Dee.  I’m stop number 2 on the Pals Hop, and I’m glad you hopped in!  I’ll help you “hop along” from blog to blog where you’ll find great ideas for new Stampin’ Up! products from the Stampin’ Pretty Pals!  Should you hop off course, simply click on any of the links in the Pals Hop Line-up below and you’ll be back on track.

If you’ve ever read my blog, then you know I love to issue myself challenges.  Since the new catalog was revealed to demonstrators in May and to the public in June, I have paid close attention to the “this is my favorite stamp set” lists and reviewed “favorite sets” postings on other sites.  For today’s blog hop, I challenged myself to make something wonderful with a stamp set that I’ve not heard many people “make a fuss” about.

Hoop La La is a new stamp set in this year’s catalog that is a perfect set for the cross stitch enthusiast.  While I’m not a cross stitcher, I have very fond memories of the cross stitch sampler that Grandma displayed in her living room.  I designed a card that is a perfect welcoming for a new neighbor, a new coworker or a guest in your home:

Let’s be honest.  The clear-mount sets are wonderful, but I needed to enlist the help of my Stamp-a-ma-jig to get these images lined up the way I wanted them.  I also used some correction tape to mask the sentiments that serve as the base of the stamps:

Did you know that the world’s leading distributor of non-permanent adhesive notes also makes a wide strip of non-permanent adhesive tape?  It can be found at any big box office supplies store – perfect for masking or lining up.  Tape it down, pull it up with no mess!  Because the ink takes a little bit longer to dry on the adhesive tape, the Stamp-a-ma-jig window sheet transforms into a pretty amazing fan while your are waiting.

Stamps: Hoop La La  Inks: Basic Gray, Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Gumball Green, Basic Gray Stampin’ Write Marker, Melon Mambo Stampin’ Write Marker  Paper: Basic Gray, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White  Accessories:  Circle Punches, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Stamp-a-ma-jig

  5. Brian, Love your self challenge! Excellant. We should ALL challenge ourselves to try something “off the typical grid.” You did a fantastic job with this image. I am a cross stitcher and love the look.

    Fantastic!

    • Thanks, Rae! I sometimes find I work with the sets I like the least because the ones I immediately love are too easy. What is wrong with me?! I love Betsy’s Blossoms after challenging myself to use it after I initially disliked it.
