Friendship Preserves – Sneak Peek

As I promised yesterday, I have some Holiday Catalog Sneak Peeks I am excited to share.  Today’s project features a stamp set called Friendship Preserves and the coordinating Window Frames Collection Framelits Dies.  Friendship Preserves is a set of four Harvest-themed sentiments that are a throw-back to old-fashioned jar labels.  The images of this stamp set (the shapes are similar to the shape of the sentiment in the Forever with You stamp set in the 2012-2013 Catalog) are enhanced by framelit dies and a paper-piercing pack.

This card is simple as can be.  A few stamps, a few snips, a few cuts and a few score lines.  That’s it!

On a sheet of Whisper White, I stamped the Thanks a Bunch image with Rich Razzleberry and with Garden Green.  I cut the Rich Razzleberry image with the Framelits Dies and then cut a scrap of Garden Green card stock to be one framelit size larger.  I then snipped around the “a bunch” banner on the green image and carefully placed it over the Rich Razzleberry image.  I mounted these on a strip of Garden Green and a strip of Rich Razzleberry, adding three score lines on the latter for added texture.

Helpful tips:

  • Things can be balanced without being centered.  In my original concept for this simple card, I centered all the pieces on the card.  As I played around with the pieces, though, I really liked the “clean” look of the image in the lower, right corner. This change maximizes the “white space” on the card while keeping a calm balance of weight on the card.

  1. Another “simply” beautiful card! And my 2 favorite colors! Love greens and purples together.

    • Thanks, Carol! The purples and greens were meant for each other – especially on this stamp of grapes and leaves. How could I NOT?!? 🙂

  2. Love the colors! How do you have the 2 different colors on the stamp?
Did you cover up the “a bunch” with tape?
Thank you for sharing your creative work!!

    • Maureen, thanks for your feedback! I discussed this in the blog post but am happy to share again. I stamped the image with both colors, trimmed the banner from the GG image and then carefully glued it to the RR one. Even in person, it looks like a single stamp with two colors (Because there’s so much detail in that stamp, I think). Wasn’t difficult to snip – it was the most effective way I could see to get color into the Image.

  3. I just looked at your last three cards…wonderful! I especially love the purple and green….and plain and simple! Tfs!
