Wood mount storage

I’ve recently written a few posts about ways to store and use clear mount stamps. Makes me feel bad for my wood mount sets, so I have created today’s post in honor of them.

I absoultely love my clear mount sets, but I still order wood mounts for sets I expect to use in workshops or for sets with teeny tiny or repetitive images – I don’t like to mount, stamp, clean, unmount, repeat for all those tiny little stamps. For example, you couldn’t PAY me enough to maintain Teeny Tiny Wishes (incidentally one of my favorite sets) in clear mount. So, there’s the upside to the wood mount sets. Here’s the downside – they flop around in the cases and rest on their side, so I am always having to lift them out to see the image on the top. To prevent this, I decided to stuff a few scraps of packaging paper (that wonderful boa-style paper that comes with our shipments from Stampin’ Up!) into the open spaces of the box. And…fixed. No more worries. Everything fits nicely and stands the way they are supposed to stand.

As you can see, I stuffed the paper into the back of the stamp set box so that I don’t have to look at it when the stamps are stacked on my shelves. The stamps just look like they are packed perfectly into their little shell.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

  1. You always come up with such neat ideas. I’m so going to do this!

  2. Brian, you and I must think alike. Only I never thought to use the packing paper. I use paper towel. I got tired of turning over all the stamps to find just the one i wanted, too. I do have to say that since I started using 2-way glue on my smaller clear mount stamps I haven’t been buying any wood mount. Not that I don’t like wood mount….I do! Just don’t have room to store them.

    • Carol – It’s true that great minds think alike. 🙂 We’ll have to chat about your 2-way glue for clear mount stamps. I’m posting a solution sometime soon that works amazingly for me on my clear mounts. Look for it!

  3. What a thrifty idea. Although I have given all my packing paper to a friend who is moving (and she loves it since newspaper ink is so dirty) I’ll look forward to getting my next order for the new stamp sets, as well as the paper stuffing. You are so clever. Thanks for sharing you talents with everyone.

  4. Thanks for the great tip, I always have trouble with them falling over.

  5. What a very cool idea….thank you! We always get so much of this lovely paper in our shipments, it is a shame not to use it for something practical like this!
