Happy 10th Birthday, Garrison!

I am the proud uncle to four nephews and a niece. Garrison is the oldest, and today is his tenth birthday.

As I sat down to make a card for him over the weekend, I realized I don’t really have a lot of stamps that work well for a 10 year old boy. I reached for Make a Monster, but that’s really too young for a preteen (he’s excited to become a preteen at 10 years old, by the way). The design of Build a Cake seems too mature (whatever that means).  The last thing I want is to be a lame uncle.  As you can tell, I worked myself into a tizzy over this.

I decided to go to my newly uploaded MDS2+ and design this card, adding his name to the design for a special touch:

Admit it! You can’t even tell I printed this off, can you? The Pacific Point base and Real Red border are card stock. The rest is printed on my color printer.

I was really happy with my MDS experience.  I’ve fiddled around with it before but not enough to complete a project and get it through the printer.  I dropped a shadow under the balloons which give them a very real 3-D look.  I added the “10” candles to the left balloon in celebration of his preteen day. All of the design elements here are a part of the MDS2+ download.

Happy 10th Birthday, Garrison!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

    • Thanks, Amy! The picture came out a little blurry, but it’s too late to recall the card. 🙂 It’s really simple and not uber-creative, but I think he’ll like seeing his name on it.
