More Gratitude: an Elegant Border

I don’t mean to go on and on about this, but I’ve been feeling very fortunate lately. I’m healthy. I’m happy. And I have lots of wonderful people in my life. In general, I’m a pretty grateful person, but I’ve been bubbling over with gratitude lately. With all this, I’m glad that Thanksgiving is just around the corner – something else to be thankful about!? When will this end?

Years ago, when I first started my Stampin’ Up! journey, the stamps were bold and solid. I made several cards by stamping a border down the edge and then trimming off one side. I’ve been itching to recreate this effect, so I decided to itch no more. I grabbed some calamine lotion and made this card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders:

  • An Elegant Border. I love the look of this border. So beautiful, so easy. But you won’t think it’s easy if you don’t pay close attention to the placement of the images on top of one another. They have to overlap at some point, or your trimming effect won’t work. The effect is also most stunning when the images are a bit cattywampus. Let go of your desire to make it all straight up and down. You’ll thank me for it! I’ll be grateful for your thanks, and then feel compelled to thank you for your kind feedback. Then, you’ll send me a card, and I’ll feel obligated to move across the country to be closer to you.
  • The Colors Make a World of Difference. I limited this card to three basic colors: green(ish), blue(ish) and red(ish). Mind you, I didn’t use the primary colors you picture when I say green, blue and red, but the colors here are variations of those primary shades. You’ve seen this stamp set with browns and yellows, but this bright and colorful combination gives a different spin on the stamp set. Don’t be afraid to play around with color. It makes all the difference.
