A Gift of Spring

I can find beauty in almost anything – I’m an optimist that way.  When I see an image or product I don’t initially like, I search for a reason to like it.  I feel an urge to find its beautiful side or make something I like out of it.  Today’s project is a mixture of things I did not initially like and things I ABSOLUTELY LOVED when I first saw the Spring Catalog and Sale-a-Bration brochure.  Here’s my Springtime gift for you:www.stampwithbrian.com - A Gift of Spring.jpg

So, what did I dislike?  What did I love?  Let me break it down for you:

Love.  There was no doubt in my mind I would love my Ovals Collections framelits.  Just makes sense to get them since I use the other Framelit collections so routinely.  I am not disappointed with that decision.  They layer so nicely in this project.

Dislike.  There’s no doubt in my mind I love the Sale-a-Bration set Feeling Sentimental.  I love all three of the glorious images showcased there (I have more to share this week).  I was hesitant, though, with the selected sentiment for that set, “Celebrate”.  I was convinced it will be the least used stamp in that collection.  After including it here, though, I feel more comfortable with that single word. I think it threw me off because it doesn’t really seem to go with the images in the set.  On its own, it’s a winner!

Love.  From the moment I laid eyes on them, I was in love with the embossed paper tags that come with the Pop-up Posies Designer Kit found on page 18 of the Spring Catalog.  I immediately thought of a million ways I could use those tags – one of the first items I opened when my first order arrived.

Dislike.  While I loved the embossed paper tag that accompanies the flowers and brads, I was not initially crazy about the flowers themselves. Loved the colors – you can’t go wrong with Calypso Coral and Pool Party – but how could I incorporate those flowers into a beautiful project?  I didn’t see it – until I played around with them.  I have another project this week using this product.  I might have to order another kit…

Love.  This Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper didn’t read “Springtime” to me at first, but I love, love, love it.  I can’t wait for you to get your hands on some.  Combining soft colors like Pool Party and Summer Starfruit with the rich, deep tones of Rich Razzleberry and Tangerine Tango, this DSP is sure to please.  I couldn’t be happier with how it looks layered on this natural kraft box.

For the record, all of my “not like”s have been converted to “love”s.  I was wrong, and I’m not afraid to admit it.

Stamp sets:  Feeling Sentimental (Sale-a-Bration)  Papers:  Pool Party, Summer Startfruit, Whisper White, Sycamore Street (Sale-a-Bration)  Inks:  Rich Razzleberry  Accessories:  Ovals Collection Framelits (Spring), Pop-up Posies Designer Kit (Spring), Blossom punch, Kraft Gift Boxes

Thank you for stopping by today!

  1. Fabulous! Sycamore Street is becoming a favorite of mine! Love this adorable tag and the sentiment sure fits nicely in these layered ovals! Nice gift!

  2. This is to die for. I MUST get my paws on those flowers!

  3. Wonderful project for your PALS blog hop debut! Next time I see something I don’t care for, I will apply your concept of finding something I like about the item.

  4. Simply LOVE how you layered the Ovals Framelits Collection with the Pop-Up Posies Designer Kit……GORGEOUS RESULTS! The Pop-Up Posies Kit has turned out to be one of my favorite New Catalog Items! Thanks for sharing this BEAUTIFUL box creation with us.

  5. Love that little box. I can see it as a favor box for any shower party. You are right Brian, sometimes I see something in the catalogs and I say “nah, I don’t think I can use that” but, oh boy!! am I wrong!! This happened with the Cute Clips on pg. 28 of the Spring Catalog, among other things, but thank goodness, I got them in your latest product share and now, I totally love them!!!!! I’m so happy I participated this time, this product shares are a super great way to have a little “taste” of something you might want, and this really changes your mind.
    Thank you Brian.

  6. I will return later on (so what else is new?) to comment on this fun hop …I just wanted to comment that my dsp shares and swatches …LOVE …LOVE… I always do the product shares because I just love seeing everything and being able to make my selections for future purchases BUT….I have never done the Swatch Pads…not many demos offer them. I am so glad I got them (really really) This is going to eliminate a lot of busy work for me trying to decide on colors, patterns ,etc. …Brian, you made them so neat and compact that I can stick them in my Memory Makers spin around thingy. I am just your average person off the street . I am not a demo and I can still say I will use these a lot . Yay…now bring on the Sale-a-Bration !!! This was an unpaid for comment…Mr. King nor any of his staff pressured me to give my opinion on these products!!!

    • LOL!! Just like Sonny, my card swap buddy and pal, my comment was totally an unpaid one. Neither Mr. King nor any other staff member, pressured me to give a thumbs up on this amazing products.
      Thank you.

  8. Brian, thank you for your in-depth discussion this morning on your “not-so-sure you like it” items in the new Spring mini. I suppose we all go through each new catalog and have the same first impressions of the various products. For me, it is like “Whew! At least there are some things I know I won’t want!” There is just so much that I almost always want! LOL! I am off to take the first 2013 Pals Blog Hop Tour! Of course, I started with yours! 😉

  23. El, a Stampin' Pretty Pal

Well, it was a very good thing that I waited until today to look at all of the entries for the Pals Blog Hop. I saw all of your entries to date and have to say that I absolutely *LOVE* that you share so much of your self on your blog. Your exuberance at Leadership is infectious, and your t-shirt and stuffing the pig intestine was SO fun to see. Your t-shirt just resonates with the SAB Feeling Sentimental tricycle! You had such good taste so early on!!! Also enjoyed your analytic critique of the Spring and SAB catties. Your Springtime box demonstrates a wonderful eye for color coordination and selection of design elements that blend together so well. Thanks *so* much for sharing!
