PP129: CAS Valentine

Today’s card is inspired by The Paper Players’ Clean and Simple Sketch Challenge 129.  I am so excited to share this with you because this card is even more clean and more simple than I am accustomed to, and I love it!  No colored card stock, and all neutrals.  One simple image, and one small sentiment.

Here’s my card: www.stampwithbrian.com - CAS Valentine

And here’s the clean and simple sketch that inspired it:

“Clean and simple” doesn’t always have to be “quick and easy.”  Getting all those pearls lined up was no quick task, but I figured out a way to make it relatively easy.  I’ve filmed a short tutorial that I’ll be sharing with you later this week, so please come back!

Stamp sets:  My Little Valentine  Papers:  Whisper White, Very Vanilla  Inks:  Crumb Cake  Accessories:  Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack, Pearl Basic Jewels, 3-1/4″ x 15/16″ Oval punch, 3/16″ Corner punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by today!  Check out the other PP129.

  1. Now this is simply gorgeous!!!! Do two entwined hearts and it would make a fabulous weeding/anniversary card as well!!!!

  2. Stunning! I won’t sugar coat it, I Hate that Sketch! 🙂 But your card is stunning. Looking forward to that tutorial because that looks painstakingly difficult! Beautiful work!

    • Patti, When I first saw the sketch, I thougt “eh”…but here’s what I’ve grown to LOVE about it. It’s a sketch that is so available to almost anyone with any style. You can do almost ANYTHING with it. I get frustrated with sketches that have 12 circles, 4 squares and 3 ribbon strands on them because you’re limited. I am challenged by the constraints of a sketch challenge, but it’s nice to have one that lets me design the card in any style I want. Oh, and thanks for the compliment. 🙂

  3. Brian – this absolutely stunning and I think I will just use the design to send to a friend who has recently become engaged (well last night actually). I was trying to think up a design and then received your email – thank you very much. I love all your work – I find it so inspirational!

  4. This is just beautiful. I LOVE clean and simple cards. I’m guessing you used a framelit and paper piercing and then attached the pearls. Can’t wait to see the video to see how you did this beautiful heart.

  5. Love this card Brian! When I first looked at it I thought….YIKES….that’s a lot of work (and pearls). Tthen I realized you probably had the help of the new piercing template and then I got all SMILES thinking…..I could do that. Thanks for sharing and can’t wait for another video from you. Happy Sunday Friend!

  6. This is absolutely stunning!!!!! and I can’t wait for that tutorial to see how did you manage to line up all those little pearls so perfectly. I love how you chose the two different sizes of pearls and alternate them in the design. I totally agree that this card can be a perfect gift for a wedding or aniversary too. Thanks for this morning’s inspiration.

  7. This is pretty and pretty… This card could be used for so many events . The white on white is just so “stop and stare” …There is a blog that I tripped on over the holidays that she uses white on white a lot and I was there so much she probably reported me for stalking … You came up with an Academy Award winner here using the pearls and heart design. Well done !! It reminds me of the white satin evening gowns you see in the old black and white movies. I`m glad I have that piercing template on my order list . Where can I go to find the Paper Players blog hop list ????

  8. One of the reasons I love your blog Brian is that you don’t “over do” your cards. Clean and simple doesn’t always mean quick and easy. Clean and simple is a design style that looks as though it’s a snap when really it takes a lot of artistic talent to pull it off. I find that cards using plaids and circles together, or 5 different kinds of decorated paper, or have so much on them that you lose the focal point in them are just not for me. They are a bit overwhelming. Your card today is a perfect example of “CLASS”. Just gorgeous and very adaptable to any occasion..

  9. Thank you , Brian…I went to look at the cards that the designers created and they are fun to look at and see what everybody came up with for the challenge . I also want to see what is entered this week from the stamping public….especially like to see what each designer picks as their choice entry for the week. Anybody can enter can`t they Brian? Hey, maybe one of your blogger fans might get chosen !!!! Fun –fun–fun

  10. I love this card! It’s so simple and elegant. Would you mind if I CASed it? TFS

  11. This has to be one of the most SIMPLY ELEGANT cards I have EVER seen, Brian!

  14. Oh…be still my little heart ! (sorry, couldn’t resist) 🙂 What a gorgeous card Brian. You have an amazing talent for putting your own spin on everything, and we are so lucky to have your blog to find it all. I really like the white on white; I have not done that before; I think I may have to try. Thanks for the inspiration!

  19. ooh my Brian vary BEAUITIFUL , love it !! great job !!

  20. I adore cream and white together – therefore I adore this card! Is that like a geometry proof or something? I may have been sleeping through that class……….

  21. Absolutely lovely card, great CAS design and the colors (or lack of…are white and cream really colors, I think so). Whatever, I love the card and the focal point of the pearl heart is perfect!

  22. Love this card ! TFS

  23. Very beautiful-love the white/vanilla colour combination. Such an elegant looking card, I’m thinking you have a very steady hand, popping those pearls over the pierced holes so perfectly.

  24. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that card!!!

  25. What an elegant valentine, Brian. I think this card would be equally suited for a wedding. The pearls are so pretty.

  26. Reminds me of “old hollywood”. The richness,creamy-ness (ok may not be correct spelling) and the softness shines on the card. Not to forget the single pearl heart is unforgetable. Simply STUNNING!!

  27. Brian – I’m always amazed at your beautiful work. Why do we think “women” when we think stamping? You do an awesome job! Thanks for sharing.

  28. Gorgeous!!! I’m anxious to find out what kind of adhesive you used for all of those pearls!!!
