Three Things I Like: Lisa Poe

As you know (because you read every single word of every single blog post I write – and I love you for that!), the Valentine’s Day One-for-One Swaps were mailed out earlier this week.  Yipee!  That means you have received yours or will be receiving it soon.  I’ll be sharing those cards here (as I have with the other swaps), but I’m also going to showcase a couple of them for you.  I’m going to share the aspects of these cards that make them truly special.

Today’s highlighted card from the Valentine’s Day One-for-One Swap comes to us from Van Wert, Ohio.  Lisa Poe has created a real beauty with this very special valentine:stampwithbrian.com - Lisa Poe Valentine

Here’s what I absolutely love about Lisa’s card (and I’ve forced myself to limit the list to just three things):

  • The colors.  I have never been a fan of soft pink and deep red together.  It’s just too much!  But when Lisa combines these colors with Pool Party and Whisper White, they are pure magic.  She establishes the deep red as the focus of the card front and further hightlights it with the Pool Party ribbon.  The soft pink and white are accents here, keeping the colors in perfect balance.
  • The herringbone background.  Lisa applied a panel of Multipurpose Adhesive to a piece of card stock and then applied these thin strips of red, pink, white and blue.  What a gorgous effect!  This technique provides a beautiful foundation for almost any card.  If you would like to see other cards I’ve made with this background design element (including a tutorial), click here and here.
  • The texture.  You know I love me some varied textures in a card.  Lisa’s card delivers!  There’s depth in the background technique, a ruffled texture with the ribbon and a smooth glossiness with the little hearts at the center of the card.  This card has it all!  Lisa uses Crystal Effects to complete these little hearts: 20130206-205512.jpg

Stamp sets:  Friendly Phrases  Paper:  Cherry Cobbler, Pool Party, Whisper White, Pink Pirouette  Inks:  Cherry Cobbler  Accessories:  Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets, Crystal Effects, 3/8″ Ruffled Ribbon (Pool Party), Hearts Collection Framelits, Small Heart punch

Thank you, Lisa, for creating such a beautiful swap card.  Only one lucky participant in the swap will be receiving this card, but we all get to ogle at its beauty.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!  Please let Lisa know how much you love her creation.
