I am so pleased with each and every card I received from my Valentine’s Day One-for One Swap. A couple of the projects really stood out to me as really special, and today I am pleased to share another.
At first glance, I was in love with Jen Lane’s Valentine’s Day card. As I chatted briefly with her about it (and as she fed me more information), I grew to love it even more. I’ve told you this before, but I’m not a fan of Red and Pink together. In this card, though, it’s balanced perfectly. Here’s Jen’s beautiful card:
A Case for CASING
To CASE a card is to “copy and share everything”. If you properly CASE a card, then you’ve used someone else’s design as an inspiration for your own. Perhaps there are similar elements (colors, layouts, design elements), but you’ve made the card your own. Jen CASEd her Valentine’s Day card from a design by Rita Wright. Jen CASEd the layout of this card and copied nearly all of the design elements, but she has successfully made this card her own. Here’s a picture of Rita’s card:
After I started asking questions about Jen’s card, she sent me a picture of a couple more Valentine’s Day cards she made with the same layout:
How brilliant is that? Same card, three different ways. I love everything about it.
OK, so we’ve established that Jen CASEd her card, but my favorite design element on Jen’s card is her repetition of rose – stamped on the left side of the card and then embossed on the heart in the center. That little touch of white is just what this card needs front and center.
A Special Request: Please Vote
Over the past several months, Stampin’ Up! has been asking for Card Kit Ideas from its customers and demonstrators. They received hundreds of submissions, and they’ve narrowed it down to just three samples. Now they’re asking us to vote for our favorite. Here’s what’s SO AWESOME about this – one of the finalist cards was designed by my Stampin’ Up! upline, Pam Morris. I am so excited for her! She would NEVER ask people to vote for her project, but I have no problem asking FOR her. 🙂 Not only do I love her card, but I would love to see Pam’s project turned into a kit. Here’s her beautiful card:
Stampin’ Up! asked us to vote for our favorite. You can vote by clicking here. The other cards are really great, but I hope you’ll like Pam’s, too. Go Pam!
Thanks for stopping by my blog today!
Brian

Love your uplines card. I voted for her.
Pam’s card is the best-I voted for her. Thanks for article about CASE

Jen, your Valentine cards are gorgeous. I love the embossed heart in the center. I happen to think red & pink work! 🙂 Love the black card you did also.
WOW! WOW! WOW! Not hard to vote for Jen’s card. It was my favorite. I also will case this one.
All of the cards are beautiful Jen but, I like the one with the black heart embossed with white flowers, it looks so elegant.
Beautiful card Jen. I love the traditional red and pink for Valentines and you nailed this. It has that vintagey feel to it. Thank you Brian for the shout out for the contest. I am still pinching myself!
yay Pam !! How exciting …yes I voted for you …yours is the best choice … What a thrill to get picked as one of the finalist . When do we find out their decision ? And Jen `s card is so pretty . I like cards that you can make them in different colors and they still have that WOW factor. It makes a pretty card for all seasons . And a yay to Rita Wright for the inspiration !!!
Jens cards are really lovely, thanks for sharing with us.
I voted for Pam’s card…good luck Pam!
I truly love Jen’s red and pink card the best!! I filing this one into my “Must CASE” folder! 🙂
Jen’s card is one of the most beautiful Valentine’s I have ever seen. Everything about it shouts LOVE. I printed it out and hope to CASE it next year but, since I don’t have scalloped squares, I’m going to try it with scalloped ovals. Thanks Jen for such a great card and thanks Brian for posting it.
Just to be me, I checked out all three cards, but you are correct,
Pam’s is the best!
I am the lucky one that received Jen’s card swap. Outstanding. The other examples of this card are winners also. This layout and design can be used for all kinds of events.
Pam has my vote. Good Luck!
Absolutely stunning! Beautiful in every color, too! You really made this card your own and inspired all of us this morning! Congrats, Jen, o crafty one! Mike says nice job, too! (yes he came and looked) LOL
I voted yesterday for that card! Can we vote more than once??
Wow, I am genuinely flattered. Brian, thank you for featuring my card- you made my Valentine’s Day already! I really appreciate everyone’s kind comments but I do feel the need to come clean- the “black”card people are referring to is actually crumb cake and early esspresso. Thanks again for making my day!

Beautiful series of cards Jen! They would make awesome wedding cards too.
Amazing how a change of colour and one element can make such a massive difference-beautiful cards, Jen and Rita. I’m CASEing them right now! I love the simplicity of Pam’s card against the bright green and orange-you get my vote, Pam!
Just beautiful!
Gorgeous cards, Jen!
And go, Pam!! 🙂 –Terri O

It’s a gorgeous card…can’t wait to CASE 🙂 I’m a little behind enjoying the swap posts and have loved getting caught up this morning. 🙂
Really enjoyed your post today, Bryan. The pink and red Valentine card is so striking. I, too, went to the site and voted for Card #2 because I felt it was the best card. Really like the simplicity of her design. Hope Pam wins!
