A Day as Perfect as You

Welcome to My Week of Sale-a-Bration: Day Two.  Throughout this week, as Sale-a-Bration wraps up, I’m featuring the items you can earn during Sale-a-Bration.  Don’t forget that the countdown has begun, so make sure you earn all the wonderful rewards you want to stock up on before it goes away on Friday, March 22.

Today, I am featuring Vintage Verses, one of the stamp sets available as a Sale-a-Bration reward.  This set contains four beautifully scripted phrases.  Here’s one of them:20130315-211550.jpg

This stamp set reads “Wishing You a Day as Perfect as You Are”.  Every time I made a mistake as a child, Mom would say, “We all make mistakes, Brian.  No one is perfect.”  Mom said it a lot.  🙂  If it is true that no one is perfect, then this saying isn’t quite the friendly salutation you’d think it to be.  It’s like saying “I hope your day is less than perfect – because you are fallible.”  Hmmmm…  Anyway, I think it’s lovely.

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Labels Collection Framelits.  When the Labels Collection Framelits were revealed, I almost passed out.  What an amazing shape that can layer and layer and layer.  Woo hoo!  Then Window Frames Framelits were released, and they were my everything.  Once the Ovals Collection Framelits were released earlier this year, the Labels were a past memory.  I’ve pulled them out again as of late, and I so adore them.  I didn’t know how much I had missed them until they made their way back into my life.
  • Layering.  It’s fun to play with the shapes available in the framelits.  I didn’t want to stop with three layers of Labels Collection Framelits.  What to add?  What to add?  I lengthened the layers by adding one of the shapes from the Apothecary Accents Framelits.  I snipped it down the middle and then positioned it along the sides of the Labels Framelits pieces.
  • Anchoring the image.  The layers of shapes work well together, but then they are left to just float in the middle of the card front.  I added a long strand of Calypso Coral baker’s twine, wrapping it around the piece between the card base and the card front.  The twine adds a nice dimension but also anchors the image on the card front.

  1. Well Brian, no one is indeed perfect so, I will tell you what my grandma (on my mother’s side) always said to us kids…..”If we were all perfect, we would be boring and that would make us imperfect”. So, my dear, lets celebrate our imperfections, we are, after all, human.
This card is wonderfully perfect, I love the way you made the bakers twine look like rays, the colors are beautiful together and the sentiment reads a true statement, we are all perfectly imperfect and yet, we are able to create wonderful things, like this card, ain’t that grand?

  2. Well, you have made me wonder now ? All those cards that I have sent with the framelets layered …I wonder if the person receiving it has said “Gosh, I would like this card so much better if it had the framelets anchored ” Plus, I don`t know any perfect people so I didn`t get that stamp !! But, I like your card and the colors pop !! As you do so well , you have made me look at my cards in a different way …. oh dear , oh dear ….now I have to anchor those cards I made yesterday !!! Just a little humor on a saturday ….tee hee !

  3. Nicely done!! Maria, I love your grandma’s saying…….have a great weekend.

  4. I forgot to say what my favorite thing about this card is …I like how you extended the Apothecary layer …you do that every now and then and I stuck that in my memory file because it is a great way to stretch your card making “stuff” …Thank you !

  5. Neato card Brian (as always)! Love the color combo and………….how the heck did you get that bakers twine to stay in place so perfectly?

  6. Hi Brian, I am new to stampin up and my upline told me I just had to follow you! Now I see why. I love this saying (and your card). It would be nice if everyone was excepted as being perfect just the way they are!

  7. Wonderful card, love this stamp set…maybe cuz I know that I am imperfect….at least a little…but then aren’t we all?? Lol…have a great day and rest of the weekend…and always appreciate your creations and suggestions and tips!
