Sycamore Street Paperclip Bookmarks

It’s Day Five of my week-long showcase of projects I’ve made with items in the Sale-a-Bration brochure. Please don’t mistake the items for things you want – these are things you NEED. That is a fact, so please don’t argue with me. Please. The items in the Sycamore Street Ribbon and Button pack are perfect for an adorable project I came across on Pinterest.

When I first cruised across Paper Clip Bookmarks on Pinterest, I immediately knew I wanted to share them with you. After a quick Google search of paper clip bookmarks, it seemed that this idea has been around for a while – and everyone who has posted about it saw it somewhere else – so I can’t really know where to give the credit. Regardless, I stole the basic idea right from Pinterest but adapted it to share my take on this cool idea.

Here’s what you need:

  • A Large Paper Clip. You can use the large paper clips with a colorful, plastic coating if you want. I used a standard, silver paper clip. Why? Because I already had some in a drawer – that’s one less trip, which translates to more time in the fungeon.
  • Ribbons and Buttons. The only ribbons and buttons that will work for this project are the ones in the Sycamore Street Buttons and Ribbons pack. OK, so that’s not really true, but wouldn’t it be rewarding to make a whole bunch of ribbon and button bookmarks with ribbons and buttons you got FOR FREE?

Here are two of the bookmarks:

20130317-123659.jpgThe first bookmark is created by simply pulling two buttons through to the end of the paperclip.  It’s cool because they spin on the end of the clip.  For the second bookmark, I created a loop with the ribbon and pulled the ends through the loop, tightening each ribbon individually. To make sure the ribbons stay tight on the end of the paper clip, I wrapped a coordinating brad around the base of the ribbons.

Here’s the third bookmark:stampwithbrian.com - button flower book mark

Using the Rich Razzleberry button as the starting point, I created this little flower with a circle punch and scallop punch.  I tried glue but decided to attach the flower to the paper clip with glue dots for quicker assembly (who wants to wait for glue to dry?).  Here’s the back of the flower:stampwithbrian.com - button bookmarks

I then repeated the same process to attach the front of the flower.  To recap what you’ve learned today:stampwithbrian.com - button and ribbon bookmakrs

I know you are saying, “Let me get through this post real quick so I can head over to Brian’s demonstrator page to place my order and snatch up this great bundle.” Before you do (incidentally, you’ll want to come back and click here when you’re done with this post), I wanted to share with you the benefits you can earn during Sale-a-Bration:www.stampwithbrian.com - SAB chart
