Oh, Baby! It’s the Vine Street Embossing Folder

Today is the last day of my week-long stroll through the Sale-a-Bration brochure, which also means today is the last day of Sale-a-Bration. Please tell me you haven’t forgotten. If you have, make sure you place your order today.

I don’t surf through many blogs, but most of the projects I have seen with the Vine Street Embossing Folder have been harsh and dark or bright and bold. For my first porject with this folder, I decided to go against the grain and attempt a soft and subtle image with the folder. Here’s my card: stampwithbrian.com - Vine Street EF

  • Using Core’dinations. I ran a piece of Pool Party Core’dinations card stock through the Big Shot with my Vine Street Embossing Folder, making sure the leaves would pop out on the textured side of the paper. I then sanded the images with my Stampin’ Sanding Block, exposing the white fiber beneath the Pool Party surface. This is something everyone should experience first hand. make sure to run the sanding block across the sides of the paper to add a finished look.
  • Color Combinations. I kept is simple here. I tried to step “out of the box” to find a beautiful combination with the Pool Party Core’dinations card stock. I turned to my Designer Series Papers to find a color and pattern that would work with this image. The depth of Summer Starfruit is a wonderful highlight for this Pool Party card stock, don’t you think?
  • Balance the patterns. As I looked through my Designer Series Paper, I knew I needed a paper with a small pattern to balance out the large shapes in the Vine Street Embossing Folder. This pattern from Birds of a Feather works perfectly!

  1. Quick post. Yes, it is very calming. Wonderful job. I picked up on your little trick, matching up you DSP. Hope you weekend is a very good one.

  2. Brian, this is a very pretty baby card, the colors are just right for baby girls or boys, or it can be a Baby Shower card too. The sanding on the Coordinations CS gives this bold EF a really soft look.
Thank you for my daily dose of fun and inspiration.

  3. This EF is going to be at my house soon . I can`t say that it will be my favorite but, I wasn`t a lover of Summer Starfruit at first . I think this design is going to be fun to play with in the fact that it is so different . You did a great color choice for this and thanks for the play off of the two different pattern sizes …. I may not have thought about that !…but, then I don`t have to because you do it for me ….thank you !

  4. What a lovely look. I haven’t tried the core’dinations yet but am quite tempted. I’ll never tire of your clean & simple designs <3 🙂

  10. I absolutely love this card Brian. The white banner under the scalloped circles really drew your eye to the circles. Somehow I never thought of white as the “eye catcher” but on this card it’s perfect.

  16. Lovely card, Brian. The sanded embossed part of the Coordinations paper looks great. In my mind very few colors go well with Summer Starfruit but you picked the best one, and together they really produce a soft overall effect. TFS!!

  17. Great combo with Vine Street embossing and sanded Core’dinations. Another addition to my “must do” list!
