Today is a two-post day. I can’t help myself – when I stumble across exciting news, I can’t always wait to share.
I just saw this video on Stampin’ Up!’s Youtube channel and had to share it with you. It’s a sneak peek at the new packaging for wood mount sets – starting May 31. Being the nerd that I am, I am beside myself with excitement over this storage solution. It is perfect, and I can’t wait to get my hands on these cases!
While I still collect many wood mount sets, I’ve started buying a lot of clear mounts because they are easier to store and take up less space. This new packaging will definitely make my clear mount / wood mount decision much more difficult when I am selecting sets.
I’m in love. What do you think?

Oh my gosh. I love it. I will probably convert all mine. They will stack so easily. Now….how about those labels. We’ll have to get creative.

Great idea! Did SU say whether or not they would be selling these cases individually like they do the clear mount ones? It would be an investment, but it would be great to convert all of my older wood sets to these cases. I called DS yesterday to find out if the new reformulated black ink would be okay to put on my old foam pad and old felt pad. The answer to that was “Yes,” and they are sending me a bottle of the new formula re-inker to replace the full one I have that is the “bad” formulation. Thanks, SU!!
Wow, I love these new storage cases! Is this the way woods stamps will be packaged or are the cases available for purchase? Awesome news…thanks for sharing!
This is the new packaging for the wood sets. They will also offer the cases for sale individually. Yipee!
Love this idea. I don’t collect wood-mount unless it’s the only one available or someone has given me an retired set, but I can find so many uses for the cases alone (the sandwich box was clever).

Dianne, The star punch appears to be the one from Merry Minis Punch Pack that was introduced in the Holiday catalog and was carried over to the Spring catalog (page 36). Perhaps there will be another star punch, but I think this is one that’s been around for the past year.
Love it, since I’m only a hobby demo I now know how I will make quartley quota. I have about 100 sets of wood and they are overunning my storage space, this will make it so much easier to find the “old” I am looking for. YEAH!
This is awesome. Thank you for sharing. I’ve had issues figuring out how to store my wood stamps as well…and since the hubbies decided to throw out all my saved cases for them, it’s not so easy. This may be the solution I needed 🙂

I. Will. Be. Broke!!! Love these and have been a “collector” for about 7 years, so I have hundreds of wood mounts that I love. I’m thinking that some of the bigger sets will have to stay in their old shell cases, though if there are only these two sizes. Maybe bigger ones will come later.
YES!!! Finally an easier storage solution for the wood block stamps! I do like the clear mount but sometimes prefer wood depending on the stamp size & if I can punch it out with a punch or big shot. TFS!!
WOW! I am such an organizational freak that I know how much easier these will be to store. Now hubby will have to build me more shelves. I’m not very good at accepting change but a big hooray for SU for this change. I just love it. I can’t wait for the new catalogs to come out.

Great news…and about time. I expected them to change over to a complimentary style when the clear mount sets came out. I do like wood mount; but I like the lower cost of the clear mount….. which means I can buy more stamp sets!!
I’m unmounting my wood sets, but these will be great for storing other things… .love th punches!
Oh, and the marker storage.
I have been using the clear cases for my markers already, but I love that i will be able to store my ever-growing stash of wood-mounted stamps in cases that will be easier to stack 🙂

The sandwich killed me! This is a storage solution for me. I won’t be tempted to sell old sets now. I used to sell them because of the storage problem. Now I can keep EVERYTHING!

I started buying clear mount for three reasons – less expensive, more space-saving, and easier to travel with – but I did, also, learn that certain stamps work better mounted on wood!
These new cases will be a great addition.
