Happy Fourth of July! Just like Thanksgiving and Christmas, today is a time to reflect on all the things we have to be thankful for – and we have a lot. Regardless of your political beliefs or your opinions of the events of the day, we have to know that we live in a wonderful country. She doesn’t always get it right, but she’s still learning. I love that!
And here’s the Pals Paper Arts Challenge banner:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders:
- Truly Grateful. This sentiment is from Truly Grateful, a beautiful Thanksgiving set available in the Holiday Catalog. Although this clearly is not a Thanksgiving card, I think the sentiment works nicely in this patriotic card. I love its simplicity here.
- Daydream Medallions. I received Daydream Medallions some time ago, but I’ve not seen many samples with the set, and this is the first time I’ve used it. Rather than build the layers with different colors of ink, I decided to alternate the colors of paper and maintain a consistent color for the stamped image. I chose White Embossing Powder and was very happy with this decision. Here’s a closeup of the center of the card:
- Stop! No more! After the background layers were created and the medallion was assembled, I really wanted to add something more on the background – an embossing folder, a lightly stamped image. I tried different things but ultimately decided to let the Crumb Cake cardstock speak for itself. Sometimes I have to remember that clean and classy might be my best option. It was Coco Chanel who said, “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off.” I live this every day, Ms. Chanel. 🙂
